RE: Recording from DVD to Video.

Rich the problem may a new version of macrovision, there are several comments on the R1 version of DVD reviewer. There are some devices known as video enhancers /stabilizers that can be inserted between your dvd and video. Apparently some of the later versions still work with this new macrovision. However this new version is only activated by a limited number of discs. One possible cause may be connecting to your video via the scart socket. Particularly if you have your DVD set to RGB. Try using the composite video output from your DVD and plug this into the video input of your video.

RE: NTSC compatible TV? Panasonic hybrid

Most Panasonics are NTSC compatible, however the French have some funny ideas so you may be unlucky. One feture you can look for is have you got video tint/tone adjustment this is often required when playing NTSC sources.

RE: Toshiba Sd2109 and NTSC

If you have had your DVD hacked for multi-region it plays region 1 NTSC fine.

RE: Ironduke,,any ideas on this one>>Recording a DVD

I think things are getting a little confused . You can select Ext1 or Ext 2 on your TV But you may not be able to link Ext1 to Ext 2 for recording purposes. Your DVD will probably have composite outputs RED, WHITE and YELLOW phono sockets . Your Video will have composite inputs (usually for connecting camcorders) When these sockets are used Video recorders often switch to these inputs automatically. So connect comp output of your DVD to the comp input of your video. Unless you have had the macrovision(anti-copy) system defeated on your DVD you will have trouble recording off your DVD (colour changes and tracking).. Often when people have their DVD players chipped for mult-region the microvision is disabled at the same time. However all is not lost, you can disable the macrovision by placing a device between the DVD and your video, these are called video enhancers or video stabilishers . You can obtain one of these devices from skcaportkel[at]tenretnitb cost approx £ 38 . Macrovision is also used on digital Pay to View ,this gaget works with this as well.
