RE: Anamorphic?

I have two choices for TVs which I have seen.
28`` widescreen for £300
and a 28`` 4:3 for £180
if there isnt a difference, it makes sense to get the cheaper.
but if widescreen is a lot better, then i`ll get that.
what do you guys recommend?
ROB

RE: What TV?

about widescreens, I have seen a Goodmans 28`` for just under £300 but this is only NICAM stereo. There is a Samsung 28`` for £400 and that includes Dolby Pro Logic. 5 speaker set.
Would this be a good choice?

RE: Macrovision

Thanks man! totally cleared everything up!

RE: Widescreen DVDs.

Aaaah, so my 28`` regular TV should do fine for watching 1.85:1 movies? and the like.
I am just thinking coz i better start saving if i need to splash out for a Widescreen, as my 28`` cost enough.
Thanks
Rob

What TV?

I currently own a 28`` regular TV.
to get the most out of any DVD should i upgrade to a widescreen? or would 28`` be sufficient?
i am thinking of getting discs such as Ghostbusters and Mystery Men, they are both only available in Widescreen. Should this make a difference?
Thanks
Rob

Macrovision

What is macrovision?
I am a newbie to DVDs, and why is it best to disable macrovision?

RE: Widescreen DVDs.

So basically, If i have a 4:3 tv, and a widescreen dvd, it is best to set the player for 16:9.
because loads of DVDs are Widescreen only.
Thanks for you help torch!
Rob,

Widescreen DVDs.

If I bought a Widescreen version of a movie on DVD, but played it on a regular TV, what would the picture be like?
Would it be squashy? Or would it be like a letterbox version?
Any Help would be appreciated.
Cheers, Rob Lawton.
