RE: Advice Needed - Problems with MICO A980

I know because of the anxious wait involved with this machine and the fact that you realize you won`t get another for perhaps a couple of months, you may be reluctant to return it. However, if you`re honest with yourself you will know that it needs returning and I suggest you ask for a refund.
Get yourself to Argos and purchase the Daewoo 2200 K. It does all that the Mico will do except the Karaoke. Don`t buy the 200 model as shown in the new Aut/Wint catalogue.

Daewoo DHC 2200k looks like a good investment!

Simple Remote Hack; Multi region; Macrovision Disable; Pal 50 Output and MP3 player all for £180 at Argos! Mine works fine so far. Will let you know of any problems...

RE: Daewoo DHC 2200k Hack? (Follow up by author)

Thanks Ironduke (How did I guess you would answer first). Actually, I have managed to get it to run all regions after I read someone elses hack attack! (Setup, Title, Step & Next). I got worried after fetching it home coz I couldn`t find any secret menu anywhere but after pressing in the above commands from keypad, there it was; along with the message "You Should Not Be Here"! You can imagine my joy when I also found the Macrovision Disable box. After switching from region 2 to 1 and back again, I decided I would look for the good old region 13 with the hope that it would allow simple disc changing without having to keep re-entering the codes (something I got used to with the Bush 2002). Instead of a region 13 there is the word `Bypass`. I selected this and Hey Presto, no more having to re-enter region codes. I`ve done tests with backing up both regions to videotape and everything is fine! (Not that I want to copy DVD`s: Scoff if you like but this is the truth. I wanted to disable Macrovision because I send the video signal all round the house via a TV amplifier to the kids TV`s and to do this it first has to be outputted via the VCR`s RF socket). The Daewoo also plays MP3`s beautifully! I have a Toshiba 33" TV and in my opinion the picture from this player is very acceptable indeed. My opinion? Go get one from Argos!!! It just goes to show how after constant searching and being let down by mail order companies (Not to mention waiting ages for a refund) that you can pick one up on your own doorstep. To think weeks earlier I paid £310 for the Smart DVDMP3000 which had the same features but didn`t work! Regards and thanks once again ID for your help

Daewoo DHC 2200k Hack?

OK, I just got one after reading couple of threads.
How is it hackable by handset & is macrovision removable?
Possible thanks to Ironduke in advance :-)

Smart DVDMP3000 aint that smart!!!

Recently bought one of these & returned it 2 days later then had to wait almost 2 weeks for my refund. Great looking & feeling machine but thats where it ended for me. The menu selection on "Drive" reg 2 wouldn`t work and there was no sound or operation on the menu of "Deep Blue Sea" reg 2. switching the player off & back on corrected this! The following region 2 discs kept going into pause & locking up, Pinocchio, 7th Voyage of Sinbad and Babe Pig in City. (Only managed to play Babe after entering parental lock code for a U Certificate!) It played 18 cert titles but somehow thought Babe was unsuitable. (No funny comments here). The Instruction translation is appalling and when I spoke to Smart I was informed that "the player appears to `learn` as it is used. A disc may be problematic on its first run but the processor should correct this on subsequent viewings" Yeah, right! If this is the case, what happens when I want to settle down for the night with a new film? Do I allow for the fact that it has to be pre-run first in order to play correctly? Not for £300 I don`t!!!

RE: Recording Hack for Wharfedale DVD-750??

Sadly you cannot succesfully record from the Wharfedale because there is no way of disabling the Macrovision copy protection. At least this is what Wharfedale tell me in their reply to my email.
