by standerd i mean the scart lead that was supplyed with my alba108, (fully wirded) my video recorder i use is only about 6months old. so its not that, the recorded picture looks just the same as the picture thou the dvdplayer.. i carnt think why other ppl`s players dont act the same as mine.. the only thing that comes to mind, is i didnt buy mine from argos. i got it about 2 weeks before the new catalog came out... but i dont see how that would make any diffrence. unless eariler models of the player have macrovision disabled.. but it seems rather unlikely.

i have a alba108 dvd player, see the tread @ the top for more information. i didnt buy mine from the argos catalog, but theres no reson why it should be any diffrent from yours. i have recorded seveal vcd`s svcd`s and dvd`s to vhs buy pugging a standerd scart lead into the back of the player plugging the other end into the back of the vcr, switching the vcr to aux channel. & thats it.. works for me?.

the regien code hack does work (worked for me anyway). theres no notification that the player has become regien-free. but then that carnt really be expected as its not surposed to be regien-free in the first place :-).
if you are downloading films of the net and intend to play them on the alba108, then for avi formatt SVCD is better, mainly beacuse you can burn it stright to the disk using nero5.5 (the softwear will do all the encoding for you during the burning process),, If you have mpeg files then use the VCD formatt, again nero5.5 is the softwear to use... no need to covert the files before you burn. if you dont have nero, it can be easily serched for and downloaded from kazza/i-mesh etc.. to burn avi`s to SVCD you will also have to download an svcd patch or hack for nero. otherwise it will keep telling you, that you have to purchese an upgrade from the nero site.. but thats jst for silly people:-)

ive got the alba 108 dvd player and im very impressed with the picture and sound from such a low cost player. its got a welth of inputs and outputs on the back to. even a optical digtal output witch some more expensive players dont have. below is some information ive found out about it. and also what media its able to play and how to get it to play it with minamial hassile
the player will play dvd disks (pal and ntsc) mp3 (cd-r/cd-rw) music cd`s and bought vcd`s. with no hacking or tricks.
to play vcd`s/svcd`s burnt onto either cd-r or cd-rw.. jst before the player starts to spin up the disk press the "goto" button a few times. utill vcd or svcd pops up in the top lefthand corner. then it should play jst fine... the player know`s it is playing svcd or vcd so why this has tryed to have been blocked, i dont know.
to make the player except disks from all regiens.. press the pal/ntsc button, then press menu, then press 0. i have only tryed a regien 4 disk in my player. but theres no reson why it shouldnt work for all the other regiens as well :-)
the player will quite happyly let you record on to vhs from it, thou a standerd scart lead. with no hack needed, witch was a nice surprise.
all in all a VERY GOOD dvd player witch will play.. anything really, has nice slim-line looks (only 4.5cm high) and for 69.99 from the argos catalog. proberly the best low price dvd player out there. 10 out of 10

ive got the alba 108 dvd player and heres some info on it,
to play vcd/svcd press the goto button a few time when it starts to spin the disk, the vcd/svcd menu should then come up
to make it play dvd`s from all regiens press the pal/ntsc button. then press menu and then press 0
the player is macrovision disabled out of the box and should let you record from it to a standerd vcr. worked for me anyways :-)
