RE: Philips lx8000SA

here is example I foun on some other web site (provided by 27sujeskelA[at]moc.oohay)
Quote: " I have Philips LX7000SA DVD locked to region to 2.
I made it all region free by entering code from remote control..
follow step by step:
1.NO disc in the tray
2.power on dvd, connect to tv.
3.Press(on the remote controle)
PLAY 1 5 9 7 2 1 0 3 0 0 8 PLAY
NOTE. be accurate by entering code, don`t mess up,and remember then you start entering code nothing change, no dashes appears, you need to enter that code in blind, but then you finish with code after 7 second it look like DVD made "restart"
that means you have done everything CORRECT
.....if something start working wrong you can return to previuos version by pressing
PLAY 1 5 9 2 2 1 0 3 0 0 8 PLAY for region 2
PLAY 1 5 9 1 1 1 0 3 0 0 8 PLAY for region 1

RESET command - P L A Y 1 5 9 P L A Y

here is some aditional informations from neretslivnav.h[at]ln.ollehc
Well the service manager spoke to the Philips Tech line this morning and they said that
as it has only just been released their service manual didn`t have the details in it.
But Looking at the P Number you might have solved the problem.

I`ll run through what the manual says.

The region code is broken into different sections

First number is the region code eg 1 = Region 1 ,2 = Region 2 etc

Second number is the TV system where 1= NTSC ,2=PAL ,and 3 =AUTO

Third is the Menu/Audio Subtitle Language.

The next three are the `AFS` number that tells the MPEG board what model it`s fitted in

001 = LX3000D/LX3500
002 = MX3600D/MX3800

Last two is the OEM derivative where Philips = 08

Going by this and the `P` Number try 221 003 08 for Region 2 and 111 003 08 for region 1.
or 221 030 08 / 111 030 08.

But check that the Play 159 Play resets the counter before the starts to climb too high.

RE: VCD Playback and Macrovision Disable on Philips MX1060D

Hi,
few days after this mail I went to the store and they exchanged my MX1060D with LX8000, I had to pay 250$, but now I can "really hear the difference". This is realy great products. Sound is much much better (especially from surround speakers). Also subwoofer gives better sound.
Remote is look nice and functions and on-screen-display is more user frendly than the old one. Everithing play nice and smoothly (VCD, MP3 etc).
One thing that I don`t like is dimension. It is not standard width so can`t stand on other equipment because doesn`t look nice.
Speakers stands look very nice, speakers gives great sound (also when play CD music) althought the speakers design is little weird.
I highly recommend this product if someone thinking of exchange the old MX1060.

RE: VCD Playback and Macrovision Disable on Philips MX1060D

Well, I sent mail to Philips and they offer me to return this model back to the store where I bought it and take new one, other model. They offer me LX3000 or MX3800 (MX3700 in US). I think on LX8000 if they want usk to muc to pay. Any sugestions. Thanks

RE: VCD Playback and Macrovision Disable on Philips MX1060D

new questions - strange sound in speakers.
When I play DVD, on low volume or when mute button is pressed, in speakers (all 5 of them), I can hear some strange sound like tick-tick-tick-tick. It can be heard while DVD is running, i think it is sound of some moving part inside which is transffered through wires to speaker. When I press STOP sound disappear.
Is there anybode else with this problem.

RE: VCD Playback and Macrovision Disable on Philips MX1060D

Hi,
I accidentaly have seen the MP3 logo on the display on some picture of MX1060D on the Internet. I put MP3 CD into tray and it works fine. Have only some small problems because can`t see all name of the songs (only first three letters). Name of artists are OK.
I have problems with VCD (didn`t play, but ther was a logo on display) but thanks to Tom (Tom2kuk ), he sent me solution. Thanks Tom. (It was before I start using this great forum).
