RE: Sub advice

I too am thinking about a sub and spotted that on www.avforums.com in the Power Buys forum they`re about to do a power buy on a Velodyne CHT10. I`m not one for buying something I haven`t seen but if it`s really as good as these guys say it is (and they really do know their stuff) then it`s a bargain.

RE: Anyone have Mission M7DS rears?Info?

Rich, any particular reason your m7ds rears are upside down? Do they work better that way?

Ta in advance, Khai.

RE: Scart leads

Anyone got the Techlink scart cables from Beyond Hi-Fi? You reakon they`d be worth the little bit extra money?

Cheers, Khai.

RE: For Sale: Dreamcast Package

Yes, I`m still interested. Sorry for my lack of response ... been well busy lately. E-mail me at hktysp[at]ku.ca.mahgnitton to discuss the sale.

Cheers, Khai.

RE: For Sale: Dreamcast Package

Yep, I am interested depending on what games and stuff you have got with it exactly.

Cheers, Khai.

RE: For Sale: Dreamcast Package

Hi,

Could you list the other games that you have for sale please? What`s the lowest offer you`d accept?

Cheers, Khai.

RE: Goodfellas £7.99 (or £2.99 with Safe Door Voucher)

I believe that if you sign up through a referral newsletter you only have to spend £5.01 to use the £5 off voucher.

RE: speakers speakers

You may want to look into the Mission 77ds too. They`re only £99 from Richer Sounds at the moment. I`ve looked around the forums and people seem to think that these are better than the m7ds. It`s all subjective though.

RE: Thanx for your advice (Clayts,RichardH and markyd) New advice needed?

Yea, it has been a long wait! I`ve put off phoning them now ... will wait till a bit closer to end of the month. Will let you know when they get in touch to arrange delivery. Let`s hope that this stock shortage is so they can solve the problems that others have been reporting.

RE: Thanx for your advice (Clayts,RichardH and markyd) New advice needed?

Still waiting for the Marantz from Hifi Junkies ... you heard anything recently Jim?

In the meantime, I`ve been changing my mind a lot over the speakers. I`ve settled for Diamond 8.3 front and centre. I`m not so sure about the rears though. It`s either the Mission 77ds, m7ds, Wharfedale 8.1 (and get it in package nice and cheap from QED), or "Wharfedale WH2 Centre + 2 Rears".

I know a lot of people will say to go and demo them but technically which are the better of the two Mission rears? I know the m7ds are newer but the 77ds are available for £99 at Richer Sounds (which are apparently in stock in Nottingham). Is it worth the extra £25 for the m7ds?

The other alternative is the "Wharfedale WH2 Centre + 2 Rears" from QED-UK for £83 which would give me bipoles and a rear centre for the Marantz when it finally arrives? Anyone have any experience with these? Or of course, there`s also the Diamond 8.1s ... decision decision decisions ... anyone have any opinions?

RE: Thanx for your advice (Clayts,RichardH and markyd) New advice needed?

They give you any indication as to when it will arrive yet? I`m also still waiting for mine, might try and get some cheap wire off them in the meantime. How much did they offer it to you for?

RE: Marantz SR5200, Pioneer DV545, and Wharfedale Diamond 8.3 package ...

I got Richer Sounds to do a price match and they beat it by a tenner. It turned up and it was the black one despite me specifically saying gold. So back it`s gone and it turns out that they don`t have the gold one at all. Went to QED who I got Richer Sounds to price match with and well hesitated for a few days whilst I played with DVD through mini-system and they upped the price in the meantime. So I like you ordered from Hifi Junkiez on Wednesday in fear they`d also up the price. I wonder who`ll get their SR5200 first?

I haven`t ordered my speakers yet as I haven`t found anywhere I can try them out in Nottingham. Still open to suggestions in terms of speakers ... I notice QED have the Diamond subwoofer now and some Wharfedale bipole rear speakers. Anyone got these?

RE: Marantz SR5200, Pioneer DV545, and Wharfedale Diamond 8.3 package ...

Yep, getting it multi-region.

Anyone on the difference between grey imports and domestic models? £40 is a very nice saving ... if the difference is merely one year`s worth of warrenty I think I could handle that ...

RE: Sony Dav-800 DVD

I was also thinking about this for the convenience of it all. It comes with everything you need (assuming you buy it multi-region of course). I may still get it subject to another proper listen to them.

My main qualms were the lack of an RGB output and availability. I realised I could buy seperates for not too much more which would be a lot more future proofed so I`m following that avenue instead now. They`d also sound better if you can put up with the size of them. It`s also quite hard to get hold of I believe, which should indicate that it`s pretty good too.

Marantz SR5200, Pioneer DV545, and Wharfedale Diamond 8.3 package ...

Hello,

I`ve been doing my research into putting together my first system and came up with the above that I definitely want to look at more closely. It will be used for television, films and music. I`m going to go listen to the various things before I purchase but I was wondering if anyone had any opinion on this combination before I go? I`m going to look at the Mission m7 package and Mordaunt Short Premiers ... any opinions again?

Also, the Marantz receiver can be had for a very low £305 inc VAT and delivery but I suspect this is a grey import as it only offers a one year warrenty opposed to the domestic model`s two year one. Is there any difference between the domestic and import model other than the warrenty and price (cheapest domestic one I`ve found was £345)? If the difference is only warrenty ... do receivers have a tendency to break down much after a long period of working fine i.e. 1 year? I may pop down to Richer Sounds Nottingham to see if they`ll do a match ...

Any help would be greatly appreciated? Regards, Khai.
