Complete Emma Peel Avengers box set for 106.32 US dollars!

For all you Avengers fans out there, how abot the region 1
DVD set of all the Avengersepisodes including Emma Peel.
There are 51 episodes in a 16 disk boxed set for 106.32 USD
(I don`t know how much postage is)!

Take a look at:
http://www.uln.com/cgi-bin/vlink/733961702491IE.html

This is the bestprices.com site - has anybody dealt with them before?
Are they reliable?

Another I know it`s not a DVD but...

Want a cheap CD writer for your PC?

Take a look at http://www.ebuyer.com/
When you get the front page you will see
"Featured Products" bith a little blue "more" link beside it.
Click the "more" link a couple of times to get to the CD writers.

They have a 4-speed for 29 quid,
8 speed for 35 quid and 32 speed for 47 quid.
Including VAT (but not postage).
Only the more expensive one has "Smartburn" technology.

They also have a cheap USB flatbed scanner for 33 quid
and they are selling the Mustek DVD player for 92.
(Hooray - a DVD reference after all!)

RE: Toshiba SD510E

Thanks wasabi,

I ordered from Web Electricals about 2:30PM on Friday.
I paid the extra for Saturday delivery and it arrived at 9:00AM Saturday.
That is a multi-region version for £259.99 plus £15 for Saturday delivery - much cheaper than Richer Sounds and brilliant delivery.

Picture quality is great, sound is excellent. I can`t find fault with either.
Setup was a piece of p*** - plugged into SCART and Hi-Fi and off it went.
A real doddle.

I have ordered my first DVD Audio disk from Future Entertainment - Queen`s "A Night At the Opera" for £16.99 - should be interesting! I should be able to compare with CD as I have the CD version. I don`t have surround sound yet, so I can only compare the stereo versions.

I have also ordered a USA Region 1 version of the Disney 101/102 Dalmations 2 DVD pack from Future Entertainment for £12.99 to try out the multi-region. I will report back when I have tried it out.

As for noise, the CD tray is noisy for opening and closing, (but who really cares about that?), and spinning the disk up to speed is noticeable, but I didn`t notice any significant noise when the DVD is spinning at play speed when unit is playing CDs or DVDs. Certainly better than my Technics CD player, anyway!

The CD playback quality is definitely better than my (admittedly old) first-generation Technics CD player. Quite a "warm" sound - but that is normal with a Technics amp anyway!

I hope that is helpful! Sorry for the ramble!

Cheers,

Spod

Update 23rd May:
I got my first region 1 Video DVD and Audio DVDs at last!

I did have a problem with region 1 through SVideo - everything in mono!
Everything okay through SCART with RGB output - and a better picture with R2 disks through SCART RGB anyway, so that is all okay! :-)

R1 disks play without problems. No trouble with the Disney disks. Picture is fine and sound is as good as R2.

The DVD Audio is great - very good sound even through my old system, but I haven`t got surround speakers yet so I can`t make the best of it yet!

Although DVD Audio is not region coded, some of the DVD audio disks do come with some DVD video as well - and that does have region coding - so beware if you get DVD audio disks from abroad!

Overall I am very happy with the Tosh 510E. The only things that annoy me are the beep when you do anything on the menus, and the slow response of the R1 DVD audio disk`s menus.

If anybody knows how to turn off that damn beep, please let me know!

Cheers,

Spod

RE: R2 harry Potter 12.99 - This weekend only

I saw HP advertised for £10.83 in Comet (Southampton West Keys) on Saturday - that is the 1 DVD version, not the 2 DVD special.

One for All 6 remote for 20 quid at Richer Sounds

My first posting - bet you can hardly contain your excitement!

The heading says it all really!
You get 5p change from your 20 quid at Richer Sounds for the
"One for All 6" remote control.

You can get it from the web site too.
And there was no shipping charge when I tried adding it to a basket!

Micht be useful for a Phillips hack?
