RE: Any suggestions on

I would really go the full hog and spend £650 on the DAV S800 purely because you get more power and also you get the speakers already with stands, the four satellite speakers are actually connected to brushed aluminium speaker stands. They look very inconspicuous not like some surround sounds speakers.

I have heard that decent speaker stands for the DAV S500 speakers are about £60 a pair.

I suppose as the end of the day, make the choice, can you put your speakers sensibly somewhere the 800 also has a rectangular centre speaker that sits pertly on the top of the television rather than an ugly little box speaker. THE CHOICE IS YOURS!!

RE: Sony DAV-S800 questions

Cheers mate for your help. SO overall would you say you were happy with the DAV-S800. I keep thinking of going for seperates as one of the yamaha receivers is very good as is the Mission Cinema 70 speaker system. There also seems to be an abundance of decent DVD players. MInd you saying that it would cost me £1200 approx to put that together rather than the £650 for the DAV-S800 from techtronics

Sony DAV-S800 questions

The all in one systems that are currently about don`t seem to have connectivity for a video. Can someone tell me if you can connect a standard video recorder through it therefore utilising the surround sound. I have a number of top films on video and would like to be able to see this with surround sound.

Do the all in one systems restrict you to watching dvds and CDs (SACD`s) with surround sound. Also can normal television broadcasts and satellite broadcasts be seen with surround sound.

RE: SONY DAV-S800

As well as great sound from DVD and SACD, what is normal tv and satellite sounds reproduction like.

Also once hooked up can you attach your normal video recorder to it and does it use the Surround sound well?

SONY DAV-S800

I have been looking everywhere for a review on this product and all I seem to find is the older brother the DAV-S500. I am slightly concerned at the lack of scart connectivity i.e to run the DAV-s800 purely as a DVD player and also intrigued to hear from anyone re the speakers. Stands for the other SONt`s have to be bought seperately but the speaker themselves seem more robust and solid that the 800.

Any feedback or a website address for a review would be greatly appreciated.
