RE: Acoustic Solutions PAL/NTSC/Auto Option?

I can`t really say - I`m afraid I have only tried one region 1 disc (NTSC).
The quality of that I found very acceptable (no different to region 2 discs), but hey I`m no connoisseur!

I would suggest you start a new thread asking other AS 521/551 owners for their views on quality & performance of these units as they may have more experience and advice with using these models.
It would be useful to see what other owners have to say (brilliant, useless, rubbish, the mutts nuts, etc..)... so give it a go and I will enjoy learning (I hope) from the replies!

Cheers

Is there a hack for the Goodmans DVD3500PK?

Does anybody know if any hacks exist for the Goodmans DVD 3500PK
Any info on this player would be appreciated.

RE: Acoustic Solutions PAL/NTSC/Auto Option?

The Acoustic Solutions DVD551 has a "Multi TV" option (as well as PAL & NTSC) under the "TV System" menu.
Selecting this option will autoplay the relevant corresponding disc material.
Hope that answers your question.

RE: Panasonic Home Cinema in a box - SCHT-70

Many thanks Bowf for your comments (below).

I must admit that I probably wouldn`t notice any noise (being too engrossed in watching the DVD) as long as it wasn`t louder than the films` soundtrack!
The Techtronics site seem to be doing a reasonable deal on the Toshiba with multi region and macro disabled, so I may try them if they have it in stock.
Once again, many thanks for your help.

RE: Panasonic Home Cinema in a box - SCHT-70

Hi - this question is aimed at Bowf.

I notice that you have the Toshiba 210 and wondered whether you had experienced any problems of the "noisy drive" that I have read about in other threads? I am certainly considering buying this player at the moment, based on all the good ratings & comments I`ve seen about it, but am just curious about this noise problem that seems to affect some (not that I would be able to notice it anyway!).

Definitely agree with you that seperates give a better value (& quality) for money system. Another plus is that you can upgrade in stages as finances permit.

RE: Can anyone help with Goodman`s GDVD 107R

Hi edmull -

I`m afraid I`ve been scouring the net & the forums on this site for the same thing for over 3 weeks now, but still no luck in finding a hack for the Goodmans GDVD107R, or any reviews.
I tried ringing their helpline several times but got no response just continuous ringing.
Fortunately for me I purchased mine on 30 days approval, and have decided to send it back for a full refund.
The player wasn`t too bad, and the Dolby 5.1surround was reasonable, but I realised it would not produce the surround effect from an external source (only front L/R), and it would only play DVD`s & CD`s.
There are other budget players that are more versatile in what they can play (DVD,CD,VCD,CDRW,MP3,etc) & are readily multi region.
Adding a seperate amp & speaker system (even a budget one) would probably give you Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby 5.1 & DTS all in one with a better sound reproduction, and for only a small extra outlay.
That`s my view anyway, and I`m now gonna search the forums for ideas on a suitable (and affordable) set up.

Good luck with your search for the Goodmans hack, if one exists, but I have decided to bow out & look for something else!

RE: help me please peeps, cheat for dvd Proline 2000 needed

Hi, I don`t know that much about these things but from what I have been able to learn so far this has something to do with the region 1 dvd`s using the NTSC tv system and the UK using PAL tv`s.

I understand that if you have an older tv it may not be able to handle the NTSC signal and so produces black & white only, also there may be a switch on the dvd player, or a set-up menu option, to select NTSC or PAL.
I believe I also read somewhere that if you use a Scart connection the RGB output overcomes this, but I`m not 100% on that!
As I am pretty new to all this myself, I can only advise you to browse through some of the other postings on these forums for any similar problems where you may find the right solution.

Perhaps someone else with more experience/knowledge (blimey that shouldn`t be too difficult) can put us both right on this!

Good luck anyway.

PS - I just found this which may help, go to the Hardware forum on this site and scroll down to the thread about "TV and NTSC compatability problems" there are several replies regarding this problem, hope they can help you.

RE: Acoustic Solutions DVD521

OK folks,
The 521 and 551 both use the same hack for multi region.
I have been unable to find a hack to disable the macrovision.

The hack for multiregion is: (press the following keys on remote)

"set up", "next", "stop", "pause/step", "prev", "next"

this enters a "Loopholes" menu - then press "v" to Region ID, and press ">" to By Pass (region free) or press ">" to select required region (1-8).
Then press "Play/sel" and your chosen option is set!

EZPZ!

RE: WANTED Macrovision Disable Hack for Whalfedale M5

There are remote hacks to make the Wharfedale M5 region free, but at the moment nobody has yet found a hack to disable the macrovision.

If you require some helpful info on this machine and a forum with other users, I can suggest you visit:
www.area450.co.uk
which has some useful info on these Sampo "clone" machines.
Good luck!

LG3200E + 20 DVD`s - any comments please

I have seen a budget package of the LG3200E (I think) player plus 20 dvd`s for £199-99.
Has anyone bought this package - if so any comments on the LG player (is it the multiregion hackable model) or the dvd titles that go with it?

RE: Goodmans GDVD107R - anybody know region hack?

Sorry Globefm - I tried this hack on my 107R but without success!
Pressing menu after setup just cancels it out again so it goes no further.
The other hacks for Goodmans models 124, 125, & 3000 that I found on this site don`t work either.

Does anybody know if this model (GDVD107R Home Theatre System) is a "clone" of any other manufacturers model? If so which one?
I still haven`t found any reviews of this model yet either.
Any help or info gratefully received!
Thanx.

Goodmans GDVD107R - anybody know region hack?

Hi all - Does anybody know of any region or macro hacks for the Goodmans GDVD 107R ? Is there another "brand" model that this is based on, and are there any reviews available? Any info or help would be appreciated.
