My chip reads 5.02Ee.
There must be another way you can getthe chipyou want without having the hassle of getting it to and from someone else. Soryy I wouldn`t risk it with my chip.
Try Argos, they sell the M105 and they have a very generous 16 day return policy, and Samsung have no warranty seals on the back of the player. Plenty of time to borrow the chip I`m sure. Not sure if they would appreciate it though.

I bought a Samsung M105 just this week from Asda.
Tried the steps posted by andiran, and....it worked.
You could have knocked me down with a feather!!!
I think by the amount of people thinking this is a hoax, there must be different versions of the 5.02E firmware but I followed the instructions to the letter and it worked first time and is now permanently region free. The standard hack which works for the 5.02C firmware does not work, and as I have a friend that has an older version of the M105 (with the 5.02C firmware) I was close to getting him to let me pull out his chip to let me borrow it to hack with the standard hack but then comes along this little beauty.
Give that man a fish.

Has anyone else had trouble getting the Samsung M105, region free hack to work? I swear I must be doing something wrong but I`m following the instructions to the letter - and feeling a bit of a wally after about the tenth time! Help!
The language menu doesn`t come up for a start!
When I ignore the fact the menu doesn`t come up, and press the repeat button, followed by the numbers as listed they do appear in the top left corner as I press them, but no code is then displayed showing me the region. Needless to say its downhill from there.
