RE: NTSC?

Thanks for the informative reply clayts. I`m actually in the process of looking for a dvd player but won`t be getting a new tv for at least another year and just wondered if I would have been able to play region1 discs in the meantime as my current tv isn`t that new. Thats handy to know to look out for a dvd player that will convert it.

Thanks again,
Brian.

NTSC?

If I am to play region 1 dvds, does my tv need to have a NTSC playback function or compatability feature, or can you watch region 1 disks on any tv?
If I can watch them on any tv then what is this feature on certain tvs for?

RE: Scart Adaptor ?

I was just looking through the Index catalogue and there was one that allows you to connect 3 leads to the one socket and it was selling for £9.99.
I`m sure you can by them online if you don`t live near an Index store.

First DVD player

Hi folks, I was hoping to purchase my first DVD player shortly and would appreciate advice.

I have gave myself around £300 to spend and from what reviews I have read in a few magazines I had picked up, I was either thinking of a Pioneer 636 or Sony S735D.

Has anyone had any experience with either of these players or are they both much of a muchness in their performance.
Another thing I was curious about is, is there much difference between a sub £200 player such as the Wharfdale M5 and those that I have mentioned.

At the minute I won`t be using it in a home cinema setup as I`ll be moving house soon and thought the DVD player would be enough to keep me happy for a while, so it will only be used conneceted to a hi-fi amp.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
