RE: Best place to get rid of old discs?
Your local branch of Another World is a good place to offload unwanted disks.
They usually give between £6 & £10 for region 2 disks (cash) or more for region 1 (if they`ve not been released on region 2 yet).
they usually will also give you a bit more if you part-exchange them against other titles.
I wouldn`t buy any region 1 disks off them though - it`s nice to be able to go in a shop and buy them off the shelf but their prices are quite steep (most are £29.99).
Anyone in stafford should check out "Disks & disks" who sell a lot of region 1 disks in store at quite reasonable prices - it`s not as cheap as buying online but handy if you want something to watch without waiting for delivery etc..
RE: Buffy Season 3
If you have an NUS card (or know someone who has) then do what I did for buffy Season 2.
Go to Our Price who was selling it for £69.99 and get a 10% student discount making it £63 with no waiting for delivery and guaranteeing you get it on the day of release..
I heard some people got Season 2 for £39.99 because some shops initially had the price wrong (they expected it to be the same as the season 1 set) and had to honour any pre-orders that had been placed at thay price.. I doubt anyone will do that again for season 3 though.. shame..
RE: Hey! R2 Transfomers DVD! Anybody know anything about that?
It`s been delayed till either August 20th or September 20th.
Apparantly they`ve been trying to track down the widescreen version and had almost given up and were going to release it late July in fullscreen but just before the release date they found the widescreen version and so have held up the releae so they can use it.
You probably know that though as Igot it from thetransformers.net forums..
I`m more excited about the series one boxset thats supposedly due late this year!
RE: Evil Dead : Special Edition
Check this link for details of the Elite region 1 release:
http://www.dvdmod.com/shop/dvdmod.cgi?searchstring=Evil+Dead:+Special+Edition,+The+(Elite)&searchon=titlefull&area=normal&type=detail&from=1&max=1
Here`s a full list of the extras:
Theatrical Trailer
Photo Gallery
Audio Commentary x 2
Additional Footage
Interactive Menus
Video Format: Standard 1.33:1 [4:3] (films original aspect ratio)
Audio Tracks: English: Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
The site also says the disk isn`t regionally coded.......
RE: Evil Dead : Special Edition
Not sure - there is already a good special edition available from Elite in the US which is full-screen, has the same commentaries as the region 2 one (unless they`ve been re-recorded for this new release) and there`s some other bits too that aren`t on the region 2 release..
The new anchor bay one you mentioned will be widescreen like the region 2 one (they may also include the fullscreen one on it like they did with the evil dead 2 box) - I`ve heard within the woods is only a possibility due to copyright reasons etc..
I think it`s due out either late this year or early next year - it was supposed to come out shortly after the evil dead 2 box but kept getting delayed..
I have the US Elite special edition so I`m not sure whether to get this region 2 one or not - there`s no new extras but I`l like to see it in widescreen..
RE: Customs charges
I`ve only ordered direct from the US once, (from www.cduniverse.com) but I didn`t get charged anything other than the cost of the disk/delivery.
It worked out at about £15 altogether and was delivered in less than a week (quicker than some orders i`ve placed with uk stores).
Not sure whether this is common or if I was just lucky not to get charged (unless it`s only packages over a certain weight or something).
RE: Black lines across fast moving scenes in my Region 1 Metallica dvd
I get a similar thing with some Region 1 disks - I use a Matsui DVD 110.
On some films I get a lot of black/white lines a bit like ghosting - the films play in colour and are watchable, it;s just a bit annoying at times.
They were fine on my old TV (Daewoo 4:3) but since I bought a widescreen one (thomson) it`s starting happening on most of my Region 1 disks (for some reason Army of darkness is fine - `The Cell` and `X-Men` are two of the worst).
I`ve tried it with my parents DVD player too and it still does it so I`m pretty sure it`s the TV and not the player.
The only useful thing I`ve noticed is that it doesn`t happen so much if I use a standard audio/video connector (the yellow/red/white plugs) - it seems a lot worse when its played through RGB scart so it might be worth trying that (although the picture in general won`t be quite as good but the difference is minimal).

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows whether the two commentaries on the new Region 2 disk are new ones or if they`re the same ones as on the Elite Special Edition version (region1)?
Also, does anyone else think that Anchor Bay would`ve been better including both the widescreen and original versions on the disk?
They`ve done this on Region 1 disks for Evil Dead 2 & Army Of Darkness and it surely wouldn`t have been too hard to do for this release too..
Still, it`ll be interesting to see it in widescreen....
