RE: TARGA DR-5100x - Region Free code anyone?

Hi All,
Well what can I say but THANKS A MILLION to JimbobLink for pointing me in the right direction.
I purchased my Targa DR-5100X from Aldi Dec 2004 and have never been able to play R1 discs, and boy do I have a load of those.
Well I was wondering if as the firmware upgrade on the Targa site worked on the DR-5200X why not give it ago on my DR-5100X considering it was for the French. I downloaded the zip file to a folder and then extracted the .ROM file. Using Easy CD Creator I burned this to a blank cd and made sure it was burnt as a non multi session cd.
Put the cd into the player and let it do its stuff. (note there is an English readme.txt when you download the firmware upgrade) I unplugged the recorder from the mains waited 10 secs and then plugged everything back in. When I turned on the player after quickly removing the cd everything was in Fench but a quick look around and setting the player back to English sorted this out. I have tried R2 and R1 dvds and no problems. I have tried recording from TV and SKY no problems. I have tried Divix no problem. Photo CDs work and so do MP3 files.
Please note that a couple of R1 films needed the langauge setting to English in the DVD disc menu. But after checking again and again it works.
I would recommend people download the French firmware quickly before the Targa Engineers realise they have made the product R1 & R2 compliant.
I would like to take this oppurtunity in thanking JimbobLink for being brave and trying the firmware out on another model.

Hopefully all DR-5100X players will now be R1 & R2 compliant.

Please do not blame me if you ruin your player I followed the readme.txt instructions so make sure you do the same.

Good Luck..!!!
Alex

RE: macro hack for Samsung SV-DVD1E

Hi guys!!

I have recently bought a SAMSUNG SV-DVD1E and have looked all over the place and not found anything that will disable the macrovision. I sent Sonel an email on the 17th and got a reply today.

Thank you for your interest.

The Mac Master is male scart plugs at each end the 12 volt power supply is now included with the package at the inclusive price of £29.99 and £30.98 inclusive of postage (UK).
Simply connect the Mac Master between the DVD scart socket (see adaptors if phono output) and the AV IN on your VCR. I`m am pleased to here that our product is being praised on such a commendable site.
Regards Sonel

As of Monday morning I will be ordering a Mac Master and will let you all know if the damn thing works. I`ll keep ya posted.
