Review of Enemy of the State

7 / 10

Video

This is another Jerry Bruckheimer (The Rock, Con Air) blockbuster action thriller, and is presented in an anamorphic 2.35:1 format. This is the major factor over the Region 1 version which is not anamorphic. The picture quality is superb, with sharp detail throughout, high contrast and a good colour balance. There are 29 chapters.

This film is another high speed action movie that the conspiracy theorists will love. Loads of gadgets and special effects throughout with high speed chases and technology galore.

Audio

As with the other Bruckheimer movies, this is a Dolby Digital treat. The 5.1 mix is a thumping soundtrack with loads of rear channel and subwoofer action.

Most of the film is action based and the soundtrack matches.

Features

Oh dear. This is where we are severely let down. There is nothing at all, and the menus are about as basic as they possibly could be.

The Region 1 version does sport a few extras but nothing to get the blood pumping as much as the film does.

Conclusion

If you like the Bruckheimer movies, you will like this film. Will Smith plays a lawyer and Gene Hackman the NSA ex agent who helps him from the feds. It is primarily a special effects action film, and due to the anamorphic transfer the picture quality is sparkling.

So settle back, crank up the Dolby Digital, whack on the projector, get loads of people round, and switch on the popcorn machine...!!
