Enemy of the State (UK)

So, they are really after us, ha? :)
This is the feeling this movie tries to give us.
It somehow succeeds in doing so, actually.
Both Smith and Hackman are great in their roles.
The story is (hopefully) too far fetched, but who knows what REALLY happens behind all those organizations.
The video transfer is very good. The colors are well saturated and the edges are very clean and crisp. The so-called hi-tech images are stunning and the editing is superb.
The DD 5.1 soundtrack is awesome. Special care has apparently been made to reproduce all of the tiny special effects (beeps and other computer sounds). When a title rolls on the screen, it also rolls from the left speaker, through the center speaker and to the right speaker. This adds up immensely to the frightenly real hi-tech atmosphere.
I really cannot grasp why there are no extra features on the disk at all. A behind the scenes would`ve been SO adequate for this kind of a movie.
Still, if you`re looking for 2 hours of thrills, some laughs and a stunning presentation of surveillance systems, go for this movie. You`re in for a treat. :)

Cracking little thriller, although empty at it`s heart. The transfer is superb, A nice rendering of a film by a director who knows how to cpture visual attention

It`s always fun to hear people talk about this movie.
"It`s so dumb! that stuff with satellites taking pictures of people. Yeah right. Like that could ever happen"
The reason it`s such a laugh is when you think what would their reaction be if they found out that actually everything that happened in the movie COULD happen in real life, and lots more.
And this is both the strength and weakness of the movie.
The plot is well thought out and all the technology (although polished a bit to look cooler) is close to reality.
Spy satelites has been used for almost as long as satelites in general has existed, and they are used to keep track of people and cars. Just imagine that coupled with having two choppers and a whole bunch of ss guys after you (without knowing who or why)

Will Smith is great as usual. Again he do what he does best. Action. Which is practically all he has done since Bad Boys, but it doesn`t matter much. He still manages to drag you into the story and makes a believeable character.

The movie is very typical Bruckheimer. Fast and actionpacked. What I feel should be pointed out is the soundtrack (by Harry Gregson Williams and Trevor Rabin)
This is one of the soundtrack that makes you happy that Harry Gregson-Williams is making the music for Metal Gear Solid 2.

All in all a movie worth owning. And it works best on DVD by far. Not only because of the sound and picture, but because you can freeze and study all the satelite pictures.

Content:- A well played out and acted story, exciting in all the right bits. I did find some of the techno-babble a bit silly though, but if you can ignore that you will find a very enjoyable film indeed. Smith is surprisingly good, whereas Hackman is always good. Not bad at all.

Video:- Bog standard transfer for a film of this age/budget. Flawless as far as I am concerened.

Audio:- Ditto!

Features:- Umm......what features?

Overall:- A not too bad film with a so-so DVD. Still worth buying for the film I guess, but would be even better value for money if it had a proper extra filled disc, which it sadly doesnt. Nevermind.

A great movie and DVD. The only problem is that there is no extra features at all. 5/10.
