I'm sorry, but that first episode was bloody ridiculous from start to finish. The main charcter is so enigmatic as to be uninteresting, the supporting cast (with the exception of Carl Weathers) was dull and unengaging (including Herzog), the animatronic face on the Ugnaut was 30 years out of time and the final reveal was laugable.

But I'll keep watching, for Favreau alone. It can only get better, so they say.

I did indeed. I won't deny the Mandalorian looked amazing, with the production & direction surpassing all of the prequels put together, but I really just didn't see it as anything ground-breakingly amazing. It might be better on a second or third viewing, but I've got so much on my viewing list at the moment it'll have to join the back of the queue

nope, that's why it's good :) It's like Star Wars when we were kids - i.e. western in space, it's not trying to be clever, there's no discussion of politics, it's just silly good fun.

What did everyone think of E05?

It just seemed a bit rushed to me, not much depth to the episode, just a very simple/basic obvious plot that didn't really progress the story arc - apart from the last 10 seconds where the unknown person kneels down.  I loved the previous 4, just felt a bit 'meh' when that one finished.
