I think fledging managers have a history of sounding out the more iconic ones, but it makes sense to tap into not only the experience but the essence of the club itself.

BTW, good call on the other thread.

Emile Sande had a good line of sight!

Whilst I haven't really followed Giroud since he left Arsenal, he wasn't a diver from what I can remember. It wouldn't surprise me if a tap of the elbow from Luiz on a bit of boney back could really hurt.

He wasn't a diver but was more subject to the effect of gravity than some and could go into a finger wagging sulk from time to time.
His flick assist for their goal was classic Giroud though.

Just saw on bbc the club is making 55 people redundant, think that's a shocker I really do especially with the money offered to keep players and sign others

It's fair to say Arsenal twitter is not amused.
The annual savings involved in making these 55 redundant amounts to a bit more than two months of Ozil.

One of those being binned is the head of international scouting and several more from scouting will be going if they haven't already been trimmed.

Suffice to say it looks like recruiting will now be the sole preserve of Sanllehi, Edu and Joorabchian who now seems wound into the clubs affairs a lot more closely than is healthy IMO.
I'm somewhat surprised it's being allowed and for my money, which wouldn't buy a reserve players bootlaces, Stan seems to have taken his eye off the ball and son Josh seems to be falling down on the job.

Let's hope Mikel is strong enough and loud enough to get what he thinks he needs.

220k a WEEK and making 55 staff redundant. Disgusting.

I've already expressed my disgust at the redundancies and the way I think they've shafted the players who took a cut on the understanding that it wouldn't happen.
From a strictly business point of view I can just about understand letting matchday/catering/corporate entertainment staff go but sacking off what appears to be the bulk of the scouting section is ridiculous.

You can't really hang it round Willian's neck. Yes 220K a week is a fair chunk of change but we didn't pay a fee. He will also be playing whereas somebody else will be picking up 350K a week for not even sitting on the bench.

If we don't recruit playing staff we'd drop further down the league and probably lose Arteta.

Underlying it all though is an absentee American billionaire owner who chucked people of their own property when he bough a big ***k off ranch in the States which kind underlines his concern for anything not on a balance sheet.

Certainly no fault of William', ddefinitely.
100% the club.
What could keep 55 people in a job (even a home!) for a whole year they'll probably be handing over for one person in 2-3 months.

I wish someone would pay me that to just to exercise. It's a strange mentality, wouldn't you want to go and play if you weren't going to get picked? Maybe he's become best friends with TGSWEL?

Willian?  WTAF?  Good move...I think...

Sad about the redundancies, but I guess this is because your owner doesn't want to pick up the costs of paying people to do nothing (even though we'd be in the pre-season period now anyway)...
