Yeah.. We`re kinda hoping that the sea levels don`t rise too much..

Looks as though Mandaric`s vision wasn`t quite enough.

Gaffski,

do you really think they will manage to do it this time. After all the previous plans etc? And to be honest that is the totally wrong location. It should have been either Tipnor or Cosham. Having everyone going through Portsmouth to get to Gunwharf, trying to find somewhere to park(not easy now, let alone with 30000+ hopefully) is just asking for problems.

I really hope Pompey get their new stadium(when I was an apprentice electrician used to do the floodlights at Fratton Park, it was a dump behind the scenes) but they really need to think about the location.

There are to poles to this argument. The negative aspects centre around planning permission and transport links.

I don`t know much about planning permission processes, but the plans have public backing from Portsmouth`s councillors and I`m sure the pressure from Prescott for more housing on brownfield sites will encourage any idea that will release the Fratton Park area for development (cheers 2Jags, just what we needed in one of Europe`s most densly populated areas already with water, waste, congestion and power concerns.. >:( )

As for tranport, the stadium will be slap bang next to Portsmouth Harbour train station, bus terminal and various ferry links. Water buses are also under consideration. Portsmouth Council would also lend a big ear to any investment into the city road infrastructure. I believe there are plans to alter the way the M275 enters the city along with park and ride proposals from North Harbour/Port Solent area.

If you hadn`t guessed, I`m an optimist on this subject!
