What`s going on at safedoor anyone know? site been closed down?

Iv`e just phoned safedoor to ask what is going on and this is what they had to say,

" we are closing down because money has become an issue and many people have taken advantage of our voucher offer, by opening multiple accounts and then abandoning them".

Read in the IT press that Securicor had tried to sell the company on, but nobody wanted to buy, so they have shut it down.

Got this e-mail last night from them:

Dear SafeDoor Member

I regretfully inform you that it has been decided by Securicor to close the
SafeDoor business with immediate effect. We have taken the SafeDoor.co.uk
website offline in order to make the appropriate changes. We are no longer
able to accept new registrations or new transactions using the SafeDoor
service.

If you have any outstanding order queries, please see below:

- All orders dispatched by retailers up to 31st May 2002 will be processed
as normal.
- Unfortunately all orders (including orders of pre-released items such as
CDs/DVDs) not dispatched before 31st May 2002 will be cancelled and no
payment will be taken. You may of course re-order directly with the retailer
using their payment system if you so wish. We will provide links to their
sites on our website for a short period.

We would like to reassure you that the security of the operating service
will not be compromised in any way by the suspension and cessation of the
SafeDoor service. At all times during the shut-down process, optimum
security protection mechanisms and processes will be used to protect your
data, and we remain fully committed to our obligations under the Data
Protection Act.

We will, of course, be retaining certain information which you have provided
to us, but only to the extent required for the purposes of closing the
SafeDoor business or as required by law. We will continue to keep this data
secure and will delete it altogether as soon as it is practicable to do so.

The SafeDoor customer service centre will remain in operation until end of
June 2002 to answer your queries. Please do not hesitate to contact them on
