Pioneer DV444 is an excellent choice : you may get it cheaper at http://www.homecinemaheaven.com if you sign up to the DVD Forums (http://www.thedvdforums.com) and check out their sticky thread at the top of the Bargains Forum : very reputable retailer.

Avoid DVD Players.co.uk. - See the separate thread

In the end I bought a unit from my local branch of Richer Sounds (Bristol). Got good service and they let you try the player in home for two weeks. If you don`t like it you can get your money back or change it for something else. An extra two years guarentee on top of the first year costs £20.

If you have a branch nearby give them a try. Branches are listed on their website.
