I was a faithful customer with ScreenSelect until they suddenly got taken over by LoveFilm...something that they failed to tell me about via email!?!...and since so the service has been a joke! I have just recieved a disc for the first time in 2 weeks and as soon as I opened the packaging I was greeted with the site of a broken disc!! The other discs I do recieve when they eventually arrive are scratched to the hilt!
Anyway , I have tried to cancel it via the website and in doing so after frantic searching on said site I eventually stumbled across a number which I had to phone as I have to answer a few questions! WTF??? After giving them my name , postcode and email address over the phone the woman on the other end said that as my next payment is due on 28/11/06 I still have up until then left so I can take advantage of their service until so. I asked if I could just cancel here and now as Im not bothered at all about using them again but she said that its ok and that it would be a waste seeing as I have just paid for these next few weeks!?! She then asked me my reasons as to why I want to cancel and I stated that it was because I keep on getting broken and scratched discs. She didnt say anything to this and then offered me compensation by saying that I could have a free month!???!!?! I then stated that I just wanted to cancel and was not interested in any offers to keep me but said I would have to phone up around the 22nd and 23rd of this month to cancel!!!! Again......WTF???????? I JUST WANT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least with Blockbusters all I had to do was click a button and they refunded me!

Well I am also in the same boat, having been with ScreenSelect for about a year, and now having LoveFilm thrust down my throat. In fairness, they sent plenty of emails about the takeover, which I kept reading with trepidation.
I wasn`t impressed when discs started turning up in paper sleeves instead of clamshells.
I wasn`t impressed when discs started turning up 2 or 3 to an envelope. It seemed much more likely that they would get damaged in transit.
I wasn`t impressed when they stopped emailing me to say which movies had been despatched.
I wasn`t impressed when I failed to receive anythin for a week or so recently, and then they emailed me to apologise and said they were sending out ONE extra disc as compensation (I normally get about 6 discs per week on the 3 at once tariff I`m on)
However, I have actually noticed that the discs have been cleaner and I`ve hardly had a failed one since the switch over. I don`t know if that`s just luck or what, but it`s the only thing keeping me with them at the moment.
Is there another online rental site with as many to choose from and the kind of turnaround I`m used to with ScreenSelect? (20-30 discs per month for about £15.99 I think)
As far as I was aware, SS and LF were the top 2 when I looked into it last year. :(
