Any places I can safely order a R1 boxset and noit get stung by customs?

sparkster (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 9th April 2006, 08:28

It`s been a while since I have ordered any boxsets from the US. My main suppliers used to be PlayUSA & MovieTyme but now these cannot guarantee you won`t be hit by customs and if you are won`t refund your taxes. I also used to find CD-WOW good but they don`t have my item in stock.

I`m after South Park Season 6 & 7 - both £24.99 each on Play & MT

Anyone know where I can shop safely?

Thanks

I bought season 6 from loaded247.com and season 7 from movietyme (both £24.99 at the time) - both sites are customs friendly but both seasons cost £25.99 at loaded247.

You can try www.dvdconcept.com I`ve ordered from them in the past and never had a problem with customs. They seem to ship all of their R1 dvds from Switzerland. They also provide free shipping although sometimes you do get a Canadian R1 dvd with French & English text on the back cover (only once from 12 orders).

Hope this helps

both at £28.99 each and free shipping

DVD CONCEPT state on their site that customs charges are possible, but I`ve not had any with the few items I`ve bought from them.
But I`ve got the £120 Ape head on the way,so it will be interesting to see how that goes with customs.
Enterpriseds dvd guarantee no customs, but their charges are higher and their service is generally poor.
Movietyme orders I`ve had have also been customs free

I got season 6 and 7 from movietyme. Both were posted within the UK so no possibility of customs charges. Unless they`ve changed their procedures in the last couple of months they are safe, although I`m surprised to see on their website that they mention you could be charged. Maybe some less popular stock is sent directly from the US?

www.axelmusic.com are another retailer that are meant to be safe as they ship from within the EU.

Did you know that on those pathetic DVD Forums(already infamous as being run by Nazis) that if you mention Movietyme ,their auto censor will replace their name with asterisks.
Some cock and bull about Movietyme advertising a competing forum leading to the bust up.
But actually banning retailer names-how pathetic does it get?

I don`t use The DVD Forums, but I`ve seen it mentioned in one or two threads here.

It`s pretty f***ing juvenile, and goes against the free information sharing nature of our fair internet.

Apparently, they also hate Argos; maybe someone`s Elisabeth Duke earrings melted in the sun...

I`ve lost count of the amount of times the DVD Forums have banned me.
I gave up using them for their almost Gestapo like attitude to anyone who disagreed with them.
But I always get a bee in my bonnet whenever I get banned and always return.
I was unaware of the ban on using the Movietyme name,so when it came up with asterisks I obviously assumed a mistake, after all, banning dvd retailer names(and one of the best too) from a DVD Forum was bound to be a mistake.
So I got around it the usual way by replacing some letters with numbers ,but it was obvious who I was on about.
Another post from a diehard DVD Forum anorak advised me to change the post.
So I altered it and printed *****tyme.
One of their "up their own arses" moderators then informed me my alteration was not good enough,so I got one of their lovely "Black Book" warnings.
And unlike other forums discussion of any moderator decisions is banned on the forum, you must do it privately.
This is so obviously to cover up their juvenile "prefect" attitudes.
Magnanimously, they have lifted their ban on Argos.
And the members themselves are so cliquey.
If you post and go against either the majority or one of their long standing members, then fight your corner, you are accused of trolling which usually results in a ban.
I`m astonished that so many sheep are members of that forum

DVD Forums are a joke.
Aswell as the usual list of email addresses they won`t accept,AOL is now banned too.
Their terms and conditions also state that IP addresses from Bournemouth University are banned.
Don`t they know about IP blockers and proxy servers.
All this junk about banning people. They just can`t do it.Its impossible.
Moderator decisions are not open to debate.
But although they can make all the silly rules they want, the ban on the Movietyme name is probably the most outrageous example of their idiocy
