Page 1 of Ordering from DVD Import....
Retailer Reviews Forum
Since the *ahem* problems started with DVDSoon, I`ve been using these guys (DVDImport). So far, so good - quick delivery and very cheap :) .
But I`ve only ever ordered in-stock items and at one at a time. There`s a LOAD of dvds/boxsets etc that I`d like to order from them, so my basic questions are:
1. If I pre-order about $300 worth, will they charge my card all in one go, or as they come in to stock/sent out?
2. If I order a lot of dvds from them, will they send them one at time/seperately - or 3 or 4 (groups) of them together? (ie. nasty customs charge!!)
Cheers. :D

In answer to question 1, they charge your card when you order but I don`t know the answer to no.2 as I`ve only used them twice.

RE: Ordering from DVD Import....
They do charge straight away.
Having read reports about them re backorders and lack of availability I`ve only ever ordered recent releases and preorders through them, for which by and large, they`ve been fine.
I tend to max on my orders. You can order 7 items in any one order and you only pay one packaging fee of I think $2.45. They also give you a few dollars discount towards your next order which more than covers the next packaging fee.
No problems on what and how they send out. They tend to dispatch items separately as and when they become available. They are particularly `good` for boxed sets.
As a DVDSoon refugee myself, DVDImport and DVDPacific (who aren`t recommended for pricey boxed sets) are my R1 etailers of choice now.
Whats the usual shipping times for Import? I ordered Mallrats X and Clerks X and they aint here yet. Mallrats was shipped on the 17th which i don`t expect to be here yet but Clerks shipped on the 14th, presumably that should be here now or is 10-14 days the usual waiting times?

RE: Ordering from DVD Import....
Well, usually i`d say 8-10 days for stuff from DVD Import to arrive.
But I had a boxset shipped on the 12th and still hasn`t arrived. It`s certainly the longest wait i`ve had with them. :/

RE: Ordering from DVD Import....
My experience is 10-14 days. Certainly nothing like as fast as DVDSoon were, when they finally shipped something! I`ve got a couple of items sent on the 12th and another from the 13th I`m still waiting for. I certainly hope to see them this week.
RE: Ordering from DVD Import....
I usually order from dvdsoon but i thought i`d give dvdimport a try, Well see how the next couple of days go before i contact them i think.
I tried Dvdpacific aswell as they were the cheapest for Amityville 1992: It`s about time for my old man. Oddly enough that took 5 days including a weekend to arrive. Are they based in the uk or something like that?

RE: Ordering from DVD Import....
You are aware of all the issues with DVDSoon I presume. If you aren`t look over at DVDSwaps and DVDForums. There are also some threads here. Use them at your own risk and don`t say you have not been warned!
Re DVDPacific. They are definitely US based. They actually had a notice up on their website Monday that they were closed for that day because of Hurricane Wilma. Packages from them tend to take about the same as DVDImport, possibly a tad longer.
RE: Ordering from DVD Import....
I ordered a DVD from them about 3 weeks ago and it`s still pending, even though they have it in stock.

RE: Ordering from DVD Import....
I can`t get to the site at the moment, I wanted to check when my last thing was sent as I`ve been waiting about 2 weeks. Anyone else currently getting a `cannot find server` message?
