Ebay Ripped Off by another Loser Seller

LeeDavies (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 7th May 2005, 11:38

I just purchased a book from ebay for £14.95 and the seller I purchased it from claimed to have sent the item but I never recieved it. It is now 8 days later.

Now ebay are saying they cannot compensate me because it was less than £15.00 and the flaming seller did not send it with insurance.

Utter joke, how the hell can a seller on ebay get away with that!

The seller could have got proof of posting when he sent it (hopefully he did send it) this gives cover up to £28 in value from Post office- I think they have to wait 28 days before claiming but not sure.

i think thats only on "signed for" items. the reason i asked about paypal is that regardless of the method of delivery if you didn`t recieve the item paypal may be able to recover the money for you :)

not sure if this is clickable, but it says here that standard 1st class mail has £28 insurance if you obtain the free proof of posting - this is what I thought and usually go under.

Yes, if you have a proof of postage, you can claim even if the item didn`t go recorded delivery.

I had CD sent to me and it took nearly three weeks to get to me,and when it got here it had the day of posting on it and it was the Post Offices fault, you got to give it at least 3 weeks, and if the guys feedback is good then I would suggest he did send it.

If I buy of ebay (and that is rare) I seldom buy from anyone with less than 99% feedback, as I work on the basis that no matter how good you are there is always someone who will not be satisfied.

This works most of the time and the only time i`ve been caught was with someone with feedback inthe high eighties who was selling something that I had been looking out for never arrived and cost me thirty quid.

Not too costly a lesson thankfully
