Page 1 of Pixmania

I`m looking for a new camcorder, and the cheapes place I`ve found for the model I`m thinking about come up as Pixmania.

Anyone used them, know what they`re like to deal with?

Good or bad experiences?

Used them to order a Sony Digital camera. Ordered late on a Monday, delivered by Wednesday from France (where they are based I believe). Excellent service, would definitely use again without a doubt.

Try checking somewhere like the forums on moneysavingexpert.com as there are usually money off vouchers for it.

Thanks, I`ll look for a voucher. How about Nomatica, they seem to be in France too, but it`s a UK phone number, so wonder if they have a branch (call centre) here. Anyone used them?

Those two come up as the cheapest mostly on the price comparison sites, but wondering how they are to deal with, especially should anything be wrong with it.

I found a couple of £10 off vouchers, but people who`ve bought from them seem to say they oftne come with french manuals, and often iwth two pin plugs which you need to use with a travel adaptor.

I`d rather have a UK specced one, so will see if EmpireDirect will price match tomorrow as they have a lowest price guarantee.

I`ve bought from pixmania, their service was very quick and u you can`t really beat the prices. Sure the charger comes with a 2 pin plug, but they supply an adapter free for you and yes the manual is in french, but again they will give u a link to a pdf english manual which you can print out. Also I used a money off voucher with which basically covers the delivery cost.

All in all i`d say 10/10 for them

Cheers for the replies. I was wary of what the other differences might be, ie is it SECAM instead of PAL, menus in French? So I went for a price match at Empire Direct, having used them before.

They wouldn`t price match Pixmania due to them selling non UK stock, but I found another price not much more expensive on Comets site who they whould price match (+20% of the difference, which gave me free postage in effect). It cost £30 more than Pixmania, but at least I know it`s a UK spec model, and still £150 cheaper than the shops.

It should be here on Wednesday. :)

How do you get on with customs if they are in France?

No customs problems at all. French menus?!? nah mate, all in english though u can choose i think between 6 diff ones in the setup. Its PAL. You really can`t go wrong
