DVD Soon:- GETTING REALLY P****D OFF NOW???

floyd_dylan (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 28th July 2002, 19:34

Assuming that DVD Soon was like others Amazon.com, Reel.com, and Future Entertainment.

BUT!!!

I didn`t realise that even if a DVD is on pre-order (for example Back to the Future which is in December), they still take money out of your account!!! £150 has gone out of my account and the DVDs have not even been released.

I`ve never known a web company to do this, not even Amazon does this, they always wait till the DVD comes in stock then they take money out of your account.

I`ve sent them an email telling them to cancel the order, and refund me the money in full, for basically 2 reasons:-
1. What happens if the Web company goes belly up? which alot of dot com companies have done.
2. A company never takes money out of your account until its in stock and is about to be shipped.

Does anyone agee? Or do you think I`m overreacting?

I totally agree and thanks for the warning. Now I will never order anything from them. You are right to be angry, you are £150 down and you have nothing to show for it, yet. Lets hope you get your refund and stick with reliable web sites that run more sensibly.

This is actually a common practice (CD Wow do the same) : okay for stuff coming out in the near future, but I agree that it is pretty risky for stuff coming out months from now.

Essentially, if you`re pre-ordering from one of these companies always use a credit card : at least if they do go belly up, you`ll be protected. You don`t get the same protection using a debit card.

They said in there terms and conditions that they would get back to me within 1 to 2 working days.

It is now Thursday and I still haven`t heard from them or had any refund back!!!

I will never use these people again!!!

Well, lesson learned then, right?

I use DVD Soon, but only for stuff being released in the next month or back catalogue.

Apart from CD-Wow, DVD Import also take money first too. They must earn a lot of interest from all this do$h...

DVD Soon have a reputation for taking ages or never responding to e-mails.

Another company who charge immediately for pre-orders is Futureent.

I tend to stick to Play or Movietyme for pre-orders as they don`t charge until title is in stock. May be slightly more expensive but safer.

Why bother with pre-ordering anyway?

l really dont see the point pon buying unless the dvd is out.

If you paid with a credit card, you can get your credit card company to charge back and get your refund that way.
