Someone explain this one to me
Got a new Assistant Branch manager. Nice bloke, not too pushy, seems to be settling in well. Wanted 2 monitors on his desk so he gets to be more productive
So we have 2 pretty modern 16:9 monitors, connected to the terminal (little slim units about the same size as an old vinyl single case) via displayport connections. the new monitor (2) is going to the left of the one that was already in situ (1). So when turned on, the mouse pointer goes off the right of screen 1 and in via the left of screen 2, the long way round, as it were. Not ideal so decided to swap the signals.
A quick fix, I thought, would be to swap the DP connections in the back of the terminal, so the DP1 socket signal that was going to screen 1 would now be going to screen 2, and vice-versa, effectively swapping the screen input signals without physically moving them. But no. Somehow the signal that was going into screen one via DP1 socket is now coming out of the DP2 socket, if you follow, with nothing I've done to tell the PC to do so.
Just a bit befuddling. Had to physically swap the screens over to get the desired result and nearly knocked his coffee over, and he's only been here a week.

right click display settings, you can move the monitors round, which is left and right, which is primary etc, I know it always takes me a while to find it and configure it properly.
my home work set up is annoying as I have the monitor behind the laptop screen, in windows you can only move left and right, which is ok, in Linux you can choose to move mouse up and down to go to other screen :)

Oh we sorted it in the end, I just thought it was curious that the non-sentient (we hope) monitors knew who was there first, so to speak.
