Agreed, not implying that's a good thing either...

this just came up in my medium feed:

This Is How Much YouTube Paid Me for My 1,000,000 Viewed Video

Here is the answer to the question that everyone asks me

quite interesting to see the breakdown and it's not a case of x number of views = a certain amount o fmoney

Also explains why so many videos on YouTube last ten minutes but only actually say something for half of the run time...

I never watch the 5 second countdown of ads on YT, and just skip it ASAP.

It is frustrating when you are using a song on Youtube and the video has been on for years, and suddenly someone else says its copyright, just because it is similar  to something else.

When I get that situation, swear like a trouper, and i just remove the video, as cannot be arsed trying to do a complaint. waste of time and effort fighting the big boys. And they know it.

It's actually possible and you can do it, but for a lot of people who make their living on YouTube, by the time they win it all the views they got in the first week or two have been demonetised, and those are often where they get the most of their income.

An interesting watch if you play SWGoH or have an interest in mobile games, how much loot packs etc can cost, if you want to stay top of the game.

AhnaldT101 is most probably the most prolific youtuber for Star WArs Galaxy of heroes. Often a new playable character is launched for free at 3*,

to get 4* you need 30 shards
5* 65 shards
7* 100 shards

when a new character is launched, for about 3 months, the only one to get shards is buy them (after that you have more or less 1in 3 chance getting a shard for a battle on their node)

so, new character is launched, you can buy a pack to go up a star, once to 4* for £20 and then you can buy packs where you get 5-330 for just under £10 (this is where they are clever, I assume to get round gambling laws, you don't buy those packs, you use crystals, you can get crystals in game as rewards, or you can but 1340 for £10)

Anyway, I digress, ages ago, Ahnald did like an "unboxing", he bought the 30 shard pack, then kept buying the random packs, a lot of 5 shards, a few larger, and once or twice the really big ones (they do publish the chances of getting each number of shards). He pointed out, that it wasn't really his money he was spending, as he can write it off as a business expense, it's tax deductable, ultimately, his viewers are paying for it, so for him it's fine, but even he was getting upset at the large frequency of few shards. In the end it cost about $600 to get 1 character, to the max number of stars on day 1!!!! Yes, 600 to upgrade 1 character in a free to play games, crazy how much these "whales", "krakens", and "dolphins" spend, on a "free" game to stay at the top.

this video is interesting, as he reveals how much he has spent over the last few years, 10 mins inSPOILER:
$18k
wow, he recently passed the bar, so he's clearly intelligent, and has done the maths on how many viewers he has, what he makes etc, what he can spend etc, but
a) that's an insane amount of money to spend on a free game
b) he must be doing v well out of being a youtuber, 162k subscribers, i don't know if in youtube terms that's big or not

(if you wondering in the years I've been playing I've spent altogether maybe £50, the last time I spent £10, I vowed never again as I felt ripped off!)

Ahnald mentioned above, has had some of his videos de-monitized, because of the language, however, he doesn't swear, youtube have told him to fill out a form when the system flags a video for inappropriate content, the problem is a real person has flagged the language!

YouTube, aren't being helpful, and told him to look at

https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6162278

but he's worked out the common theme of the videos, it's possible they don't like that in each of the flagged ones he mentions the character...

SPOILER:
Plo Koon
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Plo_Koon
!
it's either that or could be they're mishearing ship battles!
