Another Broadband problem

Snaps (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 4th November 2018, 11:44

Any ideas on this.

All lights up and working on router but periodically, despite my PC (ethernet connection) saying I'm connected, no links on the browser will connect until I do a restart then it's back to normal.

Also mobile devices connecting to WiFi, again although the connection icon is there at the top of the screen reports 'Connection may not be available'
Happens on Samsung and iPhone.
This means we can all be using way more 4G than we realise.

restart the pc, or the router? I'm guessing the router. is it adsl or cable? I assume there's some kind of settings/interface page, maybe that will show some kind of error log?

Sorry should've made it clear.
The restart is of the PC.

Could be a cheap router coming to the end of it's life.

so I'm a bit confused

you have at least 3 devices using the wifi, internet stops working on PC. is that how it is, i.e. you're on bbc reading something, you click on a link and all of a sudden "page cannot be found"

and at that same time, the phones are now using 4G

so  you reboot the pc, and that means it can browse again, and so the phones can then browse via wifi again?

I guess you should turn off 4g when at home?

usually the router is on http://192.168.0.1/ or http://192.168.0.0/

so when the internet goes down it would be interesting to see if the phones and pc can connect to that.

if my internet goes down, i can connect to that and the status page will show no connection.

if you can't connect to that page with any device then it looks liek router has died
