At last... we can start to build our defences against the robot take over!

Researchers have developed patterned eyeglass frames that can trick facial-recognition algorithms into seeing someone else's face.

The printed frames allowed three researchers from Carnegie Mellon to successfully dodge a facial-recognition system based on machine-learning 80 percent of the time.

I'm getting some made right now to make the AI think I'm bandi.

This is the first time in China that a robot has injured a human being. Some Chinese netizens on Weibo said that they fear the incident signals the start of the "invasion" of robots.

This is just like C4's documentary series... I mean drama, Humans.

Facebook knows (and wants to know) way more about you than it tells you:

But the tech giant gives users little indication that it buys far more sensitive data about them, including their income, the types of restaurants they frequent and even how many credit cards are in their wallets.

I do find it odd that if the government wanted to collect this level of person data, people would be much more concerned than a private company.

That why I falsify all data collected about me on the web,  so much so that even I do not know who I am on the web. Nothing is real, age, address, gender, race, etc, etc.

Who an I, who knows?

On facebook, which unfortunately they have made me deliberately  need, just to log into other websites I want to visit, I have given them a totally fake profile, so who cares what data they store on me, as long as its fake.

I would say a majority of people fake some or most of their identity on the web. Maybe not in the way I fake to confuse the data  gatherer, but instead just to look good in the eyes of their web friends, having fake speedboats, fake expensive cars, and lead a fake wonderful life, ect, ect, So I am not alone at making life difficult on these data gatherers getting real data.

No wonder pollsters got it wrong on the day of Brexit, as people nowadays are so used to giving false data, as though they actually meant it.

I would say, It is just a defence mechanism against data collection.

So is it genuinely time to delete all of the Google apps on your phone and replace them with third-party apps with fewer data privileges? Or is everything accessible to them anyway because you sign in with a Google account?

I don't think google are that bad tbh, I've not read anything that points to them profiling individuals particularly deeply. They also have a direct competitor in Apple who are regularly boasting about how safe your data is with them, and how they go out of their way to not abuse it.

Facebook is another matter, they are in the business of profiling you as an individual, it's why they have Facebook icons all over the internet (Like this on Facebook!) so they can track people who visit pages other than Facebook's. Bandi is being naive if he thinks giving false information to Facebook means they don't know much about him, they are monitoring his interactions, they know roughly what area he lives in, they could easily narrow him down from his internet footprint.

Facebook wants to know absolutely everything about you, it doesn't care about whether it should. Most other tech companies are actively moving towards deleting data they have on you past a certain time, Facebook is doing the opposite.

Entirely up to the individual if they are happy with them knowing who you are, what you like, what you watch on TV, who your friends are, what you think of them, what they think of you, whether you are at home or work, how much money you earn, your political leanings, if you identify as straight, gay, trans, binary or a teapot.

Personally I think the moment the knowledge they have on people is a serious problem, it'll be too late.

So I'm not on Facebook, and I run Privacy Badger, so Facebook don't know what I'm doing.
