Page 1 of Laptop screens, can you get a repair liquid?

Might seem an odd question but I`m thinking along the lines of the way car windscreens get chips repaired.

Anywhooo the other week I was fixing a pal`s sat nav and when I picked up my soldering iron the cable on it trapped and I sorta dropped/swung it and the tip just grazed my laptop screen.
(which is a brilliant advert for a screen protector but ho hum....)

The iron wasn`t on so was just a scratch not melted but it`s only about 2 cm mark. Doesn`t affect operation in any way but annoys the hell out of you once you see it and I seem to remember years ago about some kind of liquid or polish that could fill in small marks like this....?

`Course that could have been for glass or CRT screens but any help or advice most gratefully received :)

I think an attempt to fix a laptop screen that way using a liquid resin might cause more damage or distortion than the repair would improve,  fine with glass where you can clamp something on so the resin applied under pressure can form a flat finish without bubbles, but I bet not so good with a soft film.

I have seen suggestions of using a car wax or polish but it was also said some car waxes can leave a white line and it`s important to use a lint free cloth (the type used for cleaning spectacles) to apply it otherwise you can create lots of little scratches. It won`t be perfect but it might be a small improvement. If you google "laptop scratch" you`ll see all the same sort of posts about it that I did.

If all else fails you could always look into the cost of a replacement screen, some models can be quite reasonable if you`re lucky enough to need the right type.

It`s also not bad enough to make changing it an option, but say I was to find a spares/repairs unit that had a perfect screen I`d do a swapover on them.

Like I said, I was only thinking along the windscreen repair lines, not actual resin but I`m sure there was something years ago for this exact scenario... then again, years ago they used to have plastic covers in front of screens acting as screen protectors :-/
