Backingup DVD onto Blu Ray

And do you have a Blu-Ray writer with the blank discs you need?

I have about 30 martial arts dvd`s I want to back them up as the discs wont last forever, I bought an LG blu ray re writer so i can watch blu ray and back up stuff. instead of buying a external drive.

Your problem is that you need to be able to author it as either DVD or Blu-Ray format. (I.e the VIDEO_TS & .VOB files for DVD format) if you want to watch back on a standard player.
Not sure what the Blu-Ray format is though, but you`d need the software to do it (no idea which type).

Or, you could rip the DVDs into a DivX or MP4 type file (for example) - and then burn them as data files to the Blu-Ray disc. But that would mean they need to be watched back on the PC (or possibly the PS3).
