Page 1 of XP BURNING PROBLEMS
PCs & Mobiles Forum
Hi,
I am having problems with my cd and dvd rewriter on my Compaq computer running XP.
I find it impossible to burn a cd using either the Samsung rewriter or the Philips on this m/c.
Using Explorer I can click and drag a file to one of the rewriters and follow the procedure through until I am asked for a disk.I insert a disk but the writer refuses to acknowledge that I have put a disk in and refuses to write to it,keeping asking for a disk.I have tried several new unused disks.
I have examined the drive parameters using My Computer and it indicates that all is well and the drive is working well. The troubleshooter informs me that the the drive is OK.
Both drives play cd`s using Media Player.
I can download data using Explorer to a memory stick in one of the USB`s ok.
Help
have you tried using a copy of nero? that would tell you its a windows problem and not a hardware fault plus you have more control over what you create.

Hi Stu UK,
Thanks for your advice.
Both drives work perfectly well with Nero.So I take it there is a Windows problem.
I have tried to update the windows drivers but I seem to have the latest.
No probs I can live with it as long as I can use the drives.
Chocolate eh!
Regards
Paul
Windows CD writing has always been dodgy. Tried it a few times and quickly realised it is rubbish.
There`s a free CD burning program called CDBurnerXP which does a better job.
So if anyone reading this can`t get hold of Nero try Google for that instead.
No probs Paul it seems as someone else stated windows cd burning is pants your far better off with nero
and damn right choc :D
mmm chocolate
