9 ? thats not one of there cable speeds, i take it your getting it via adsl rather than dsl. (ie, via your phone line)

what cable speeds are there then? Because they just told me over the phone that that 9mb is the fibre optic speed. not copper wire which I have already.

ahh.. I think I may have confused the issue. It`s listed as 10MB but I was told it`s be more than likely 9ish. That`s still a hell of a lost faster that 0.9 mb!!! And He was pretty sure that becuase my street is on the cable I will get it.

tbh, with cable what you are supposed to get is actually what you Will get (barring instalation problems which, tbh are rare) you should ge t 10meg no problem, assuming your in a digital area not analogue, so expect to hit 1.2mbps as you top end speed, this equates to a 350meg tv episode coming down in just under 5 mins, provided it`s well seeded etc :)

yeah, your paying virgin to much :) i nailed them down to £17.50p a month for 10 meg, & if you swap to voip (ie skype or similar) you wouldn`t need a landline at all, as it is not requered for cable broadband, also, if you telephone usage is generaly fairly low, you can also get a virgin mobile sim with 300 any net anytime mins + 300 texts for £10 a month ;) totaly negating the point of a landline unless your a very heavy user....

total cots £27.50p

just a thought ;)

long story.

abreviated version here.

start about here...

http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/forums/thread.asp?Forum=113&Thread=642906&Page=7&Type=1

you will notice i do rage at virgin about there customer sevice. But in all honesty, having dealt with BT SKY & the former NTL i have to say virgin are no better or worse than any of the others, but it was worth it in the end :)

EDIT= i should mention the virgin sim deal is normaly £20 a month for that tarif, bu8t virgin media are doing an offer where if you take any of there services you get the sim + tarrif for £10 per month, + it`s a month to month contract, so you can walk away at any time, i decided to keep my virgin sim & tbh, coverage etc seems just as good as any (in fact, i`ve not had any dropout at all, & formerly i could only say that about o2)

EDIT X 2 = Also, xbox live loves cable ;) mega connections, & if your missing any tv programs, pm me & i`ll hook you up, remember, you have no download caps with cable BB ;)

cheers for all the info mate! I have been getting frustrated of late with the fact that My connection keeps dropping off. I haven`t been able to play a full game in months.

Just had a refusal from virgin mobile on the sim deal. my credit rating isn`t the best. hope this won`t affect my main order. although I have talked to them today and the order is there and the appointment booked......

heh, they refused my credit check as well, butn the sim still arrived ;) a flaw in the virgin/ntl swapover methinks. so don`t be surprised if it turns up tomorrow or the day after :) just plug the buger in & use it ;)

i got my first mobile bill today, aparently they are gonna take £0.00p out of my acount on the 5th of april.

complain i am not..... :D

either way, esp for the 360 & live, your much better off with "proper" BB but out of interest & to circumvent any possible probs you may have, how do you connect your 360 to the internet at the moment ? ethernet or wireless ?

EDIT= btw, the main reason virgin mobile are strugling with virgin media customers & credit checks is because untill next month virgin mobile is still a seperate comany, thats why almost everybody is failing the credit check for the £10 deal, as i say, you will probably find the sim arriving in the post tomorrow, but if not, wait till next month, once they merge the credit check will be irrelevent, as long as your an existing virgin media customer....

hope this helps
