Page 1 of 1 ethernet cable going 2 ways?
PCs & Mobiles Forum
Hello,
I have my PC and a router in one room and 1 ethernet cable coming from the router through the loft and into my other room.
I have this cable connected to my Xbox 360.
I imported a PS3 and have been pulling the cable out the 360 then into the PS3 and vice vera.
I should really have fed another ethernet cable into my room before i decorated but its a boit late now as i have had all my wall plastered with all cables hidden in the walls.
Is there any kind of splitter i can get.....ie, the ethernet going into some sort of adapter with 2 going out?
Thanks for any help.

Get a switch / hub,
If you have a free USB port (for power) on either games box or get a USB charger as well:

If not get a self powered like this:

Note these are examples, not recommendations.

rather than a switch, why not get another router, a basic wired router can be had of ebar for about a fiver (second hand) that way they are both plugged in & "active" at the same time :) so you could be playing ps3 online whilst downloading a demo from M$ to the dash at the same time ;)

really ? thats odd, because the last time i used a switch i had conflicts due to everything coming out of the switch having the same address, doesn`t a router generate a separate addy for each port ?
not used a switch for years tho, so my memory could be wrong :)

A Hub broadcasts to all ports, regardless of where the packets are destined and it is up to the client machines to ditch what they dont want. A switch intelligently passes traffic to only the port that it is destined for. Routers are for connecting between 2 networks with different IP/subnet ranges.

Yes there are 2 into one converters available.
They just don`t allow you to use two devices at the same time

I don`t understand why people knock ASBO`s, they are good things as for most of the recipients, these are the only qualifications they will ever have.

is that the same as a switch in that you could only use one of the devices at a time ?
