I am sure iTunes can do it. You can right click the MP4 (or AAC) file and select convert to MP3. You can also download jHymn which works with iTunes and can automate a conversion process.

dBPowerAmp with the relevant codec.

The newest version is shareware, so will send you mail. :)

cheers gurly :) i wait with baited breath :)

(i`m trying to convert an anne rice audio book from the vampire series :) )

EDITX1= i-tunes can convert them to acc files (which i can use) but i`d really prefer mp3, for simplicity`s sake.

EDITX2= kath, did you say you where reading "the cat who" series ? http://home.att.net/~RACapowski/primer.htm i`m just listening to the cat who talked to ghosts, & wondered what you thought of the series as there are a load of them "available" :)

EDITX3= cheers, i just got the email, i`ll go check it out :)

Ogster, I meant iTunes can convert the AAC (or MP4 - same thing) to MP3 but I do like the osund of dbPowerAmp to do it. I spent a long time finding a free program to do the conversion and wished I had known about dbPowerAmp*

ah right, wierd thing is that i-tunes would only give me the option to convert from mp4 into ACC there wasn`t an mp3 option, could it be via a plug in ?

tho tbh, power amp is doing it very well, so i reckon i`ll stick to that :)

If you go to the Library and select the MP4 files then right click there is an option to convert to MP3 but jHymn (which works using iTunes Library) can automate the process by searching the library to convert any MP4s to MP3s.
