Page 1 of dvd record error on my new media centre pc when recording TV programmes)-help

got my new hp m1250 pc. Recorded tv programme from built in tv card-no problem. Tried to burn onto DVD within simple interface, came back with error message. No explanation given. Tried twice...no options to adjust settings.

Have burnt 2 recovery discs onto DVD, so burner should be ok.

Wanted to use other programmes that came with pc for burning but couldn`t locate the tv programme on the hard disc. of course it did record as I`ve watched it. Not sure what type of file it comes under anyway.

Any ideas of where the problem lies?

built in. There is a problem as they have a suggestion in their help section i.e go out of media centre and re-enter, but stll have the same error.

the model is a hp pavilion m1250uk. athlon 64 +3200, 512 RAM, 200gb HD, 16x DVD-RW, built in tv and fm card

should work as it`s what is included as a media centre

Have you tried your windows player too look around your folders for any media files to nail down where your program is putting them.Or you could try another burn and then see if it shows where it puts the files in the programs settup area.

I dont use the media windows but have xp pro plus digital computer settop box by msi and the nero and benq software and burner which sort of gives the same thing as the media. [cheaper home assembled computer ]

looked in the microsoft help and suport section and the problem is known, a hotfix is available but suggests waiting for service pack update, so I will as it`s not that important

Dakwah, for future reference, there is a great website devoted to MCE over at thegreenbutton. They have a great knowledge base and a brilliant forum community, if they cant sort your problem out no one can! It`s also worth a look at their list of plugins as some can add functionality you wouldn`t think possible!

Blodwin, you say you have a home assembled HTPC, if you are looking for a free MCE alternative have a look at Mediaportal. It`s a great program and is constantly being developed to include new features, has good forum support, and having used both MCE and Mediaportal have decided to use Mediaportal on my HTPC!
