Using router with broadband (newbie Question)
Hi Guys,
I have broadband at the moment and am quite happy with it. My question is, if i were to get a router, does this keep me logged in all the time, and when i start my pc i don`t have to log in, just start ie and away i go. Or am i a muppet and it doesn`t work like this at all. Sorry if this is a really basic question and i should know but i`m a bit thick.
Many thanks
Adam

Yep you are exactly right (not the muppet part though!!!!) - you will be online as soon as you switch your PC on.

RE: Using router with broadband (newbie Question)
Thanks for the advise. I`m not exactly flush, so would this http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=6168518496&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=48448 do the trick?
Thanks again
Adam
RE: Using router with broadband (newbie Question)
Hi
you don`t mention who provides your b/b service..is it an ADSL provider off a BT
line or is it from a Cable provider like Telewest(Blueyonder) or NTL?
if you`re using ADSL, then yes, the device will work, although you will be replacing
modem with this combined unit.....plus, it seriously limits your network possibilities
because it only has one port from what i can see.
if you have no intention of creating a home network then it will do fine.
Ste.
........is that gasoline i smell?
RE: Using router with broadband (newbie Question)
This would be cheaper at e-buyer & give you the increased flexibility.
My personal choice is this one at Scan.
I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.
