I take it you *are* recording to a -R disc and finalising as DK says?

If you`re recording to a RAM disc then:
1) it`s .VRO format and probably can`t be seen by Shrink (although....need to try it out to check)
2) Your drive may be unable to read a RAM disc.

it looks like shrink is the problem so downloaded trial version of tmpgen dvd author 1-6 seems to work. anyone know of other progs that will do same

DVD Shrink isn`t an mpeg editor at all-it`s only designed to make an oversized DVD file fit onto a single disc by either reducing the quality or removing unwanted features/

TMPGenc DVD Author has basic editing tools, but you`d be better with a proper MPEG editor like Womble MPEG Video Wizard

You still haven`t answered the RAM and finalising questions?
With only half the information, nothing can be suggested sensibly.

Oh, and the fact that TMPGenc reads it when shrink doesn`t again makes it sound like a RAM disk?

OK, we`re halfway there now.
Is it a DVD-R disc (Which finalising suggests it to be) or is it a DVD-RAM disc (which all the posts above suggest it to be)
:/

And if it is a finalised DVD-R disc, then what settings did you use to record so we can attempt to duplicate it?

i am trying to record from a dvd ram disc to a dvd-r disc, but i want to edit out adverts shrink wont do it so i am going to try womble or tmpge and see which is the easiest, hope this explains what im trying to do. i just wondered if anybody has tried to do the same thing and could steer me in the right direction

Yeah, thats what I thought Geoffrey, and it`s a totally differing question to a problem with Shrink.

Shrink is exactly that: shrinks an oversized dvd to fit on a 4.7gig DVDR or backs up a normal disc.
If you open the disc in the drive, you`ll see a DVD or DVDR disc has a "VIDEO_TS" folder, filled with files ending .ISO, .BUP and a few .VOB s dependant on the disc content.
A RAM disc has a .VRO file, which needs to be re-authoured first.
I can`t get mine to work right, best person to ask if Emily Howard :)
