Mini video cameras

I`m looking for a bit of advice on mini video/stills cameras, if anyone has got one and can help me out. I`ve got a Nokia 7600, but its playing up and I think I`ll have to return it for repair, and I love the video/sound recording facilities. So, I was thinking of asking my mum to get me a mini video camera to use until it comes back.

What I`d really like to know is how good these cheap ones are. Will the pictures be at least equivalent or better than my 7600? Would it be good enough to view on a small portable tv for example? Would it be able to feed into my dvd recorder? I know they are just gimmicky things and not comparable to a true camcorder, but how near to video quality is it?

The ones I am looking at so far are:

This

This

Or this

If anyone can recommend a good one, or has seen a cheap one, please tell me :)

I wouldn`t recommend buying one of those. I bought the Mustek DV4000 from Amazon to take on holiday. The stills were awful and the video was even worse. I sent it straight back on my return from the holiday and got a refund. I then bought a Kodak DX6340 and I have to say it is excellent, both for stills and video.

Hope this helps,

Sam.

Thanks for that, both of them out of the Xmas price range though :)

I`ll just have to put up with my dodgy phone until I can spare it :D

Strangely enough actually, I have a kodak camera, but I hate it! Colours are awful, it feels plasticy, and it will only work properly on extremely expensive batteries. I`m planning on replacing it with a Canon when I have the cash.

They are no match whatsoever to a proper camcorder, but I would think they`d be at least the same quality as your phone video wise.

The picture would be lousy on a TV screen, but look OK in a window on your desktop or a tiny screen like on a phone.
