my laptop which is runnign xp service pack 2, has encountered a problem..whenever i boot up once windows is started it pulls up an error concerning isass.exe and shuts down and reboots...it also does it in safe mode so there is no way i can try to fix!!

help, is this a virus..and if so how do i delete if i can`t get into windows to fix!!

A quick google throws this up. I`d do a bit of investigating, but it sounds like it might be a virus.

If it is anything like the one I had the other day, the virus was called

lol.exe

and it was with ls*** file.

It was in my system32 directory. I had to move it out, disable system restore, then move the file out to delete it. Took some time, so very annoyed, particularly as the file was 7kb large so easy to pick up. AVG called it a psw file but could not delete no heal.

It can be one of two things. A perfectly benign microsoft windows security process or a bitch of a virus. http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/lsass/
