Page 1 of From cam to dvd?
PCs & Mobiles Forum
Hi
Apologies first if this is the wrong forum to ask BUT......
I just bought a Mustek 4000 digital camcorder and have already got a Philips DVDR 70. So, my question is can I download any mpeg 4`s I make onto a DVD through these?
Thanx in advance

If you want to make a `proper` DVD that will play in most DVD players, then you will have to do some conversion first. Since they are MPEG4 you would need to convert to MPEG2.
If you just want to put the files onto a DVD that can be accessed on a PC, then that`s more simple.
For the conversion to MPEG2 I would suggest TMPGEnc. But it`s best to check out www.dvdrhelp.com for loads of good guides on conversion and software to use etc.

Thanks Miles. That`s a really helpful site :) do you know of any that are Forum type? I`d like to ask a few questions about windows98 upgrades.
Thanks again ;)

I found a great bit of software, dvdsanta. It copies avi, all mpegs to dvd. It took about 21/2 hours to convert a movie to vobs etc. although i used nero to burn it to dvd for a better copy. The trial version is fully operational, with only with a small banner on the screen . This is the best and far fastest way to convet avi,mpeg4 to dvd as well as it is very easy.
Hi eElvis
What are the settings like for the conversion? (Do you get a lot of freedom for things like de-interlacing, motion search, bitrate etc.?)
Also - what was the quality like (in your opinion of course) compared to the original source file?
Cheers
