converting avi to vcd

i have just successfully converted a avi to mpeg but i still cant play it on my dvd player it works on my pc fine i am sure its only something small i have overlooked if anyone can help

you need to give some more information on how you burned it, etc.

I use TMPGEnc to encode .avi to .mpeg 1, and then use nero, set on vcd. or you can just set nero on vcd and drag the file and burn and nero will reencode for you, but this does take longer.

if you have done all this, you may have to describe the process you used in more detail.

thanks for the reply as it happens i experimented with the mpeg file converting it to nero vcd after putting the message on and got it to work thanks anyway though. I did think first of all that it didnt work because i had a nero title on screen and it wouldnt let me play but when i pressed skip back the film came on.

take it you must have used nero express to burn. i have to press one and enter to get the disc to play from the menu.
if you just drag and burn using vcd option in the nero wizard, the mpeg will auto start once the disc has been read.

yes your right when i first converted a file to vcd i thought that it didnt work i only found out when i skipped back that it worked and thanks for the tip about nero i will try that next time
