Page 1 of ALDI TV CARD HELP!!!!!!
PCs & Mobiles Forum
I was just wondering if anyone out there can help me. a few weeks ago Aldi had a special offer on infa red keyboards and mice and also a tv card for £29.99.
I brought the tv card and have installed it and it works fine channels appear although a bit fuzzy down to poor aerial and the radio also works fine. The only problem is that when i try to capture off it i get picture but no sound.
It works using POWER VCR 3.0 and i was wondering which of the settings i need to fix
stero, wave, line in, or AUX???? it is hooked up to my soundcard and i do get sound when i just want to watch or listen to the channels but not when i capture any help would be greatly appericated
check your windows sound settings.. you want to make sure that you are recording the right sound input.. on my TV card . i have a short mic jack that connects the audio out to the mic in on my audigy.. and as you can only select one source at a time for recording.. have a look at your settings
thanx but still no joy!!!!!
I have a similar TV card and get the same problem. I tried all manner of things and in the end gave up!
Don`t let my tests put you off though - there must be some way...I mean if you can hear the TV show you must be able to record it!

thanks Miles,
Is good to know that im not the only one with this problem. There must be somebody out there who knows how to fix this problem
Sorry if i`m stating the obvious chaps, but just in case anyone is missing it: Right click on the speaker icon at the bottom (taskbar) of the screen, left click on `open volume control`, and look for any ticks against `mute` under any of the settings/sliders, untick them if they are, I may be wrong but I think the `line` is used to record and the `wave` is used to replay the sound. (I checked this by moving the `wave` volume whilst replaying as my replayed sound was a little loud and raucous compared to the normal TV sound.) If you are missing any of the settings/sliders you must left click on `options` in the drop down menu, then left click again on `properties` Tick any of the items that you need and that don`t yet have ticks against them, they will then be added to the sliders and you can check for mutes etc. In case I am stating something too obvious I apologise, and if it still won`t work, then the answer is probably in the configuration settings of Power VCR. Best of luck, Roger. P.S. Isn`t there a helpline number in the box, or was I mistaken? Make sure that the audio cable is taken from the audio out of the TV card into the `Green` input on your soundcard

Don`t worry about stating the obvious...it`s often the obvious things that people miss! :)
However, I did indeed mess around with the volume settings (for playback and recording)
But no matter what I did, I could hear the sound, but not record it
Also tried capturing using VirtualDub - that didn`t work either

Check the Audio section in virtual dub - For a while I was confused why I could hear the original but no audio on playback. It turned out I had the audio capture set to Mic when it should have been line in.
