If you have a fixed budget, try looking at www.watford.co.uk as you can configure your own PC
( - I have an XP2600, 512DDR, 80GBhdd, CDRW, DVD-rom, GF4Ti4800, WinXP etc... on the way for less than £600 inc shipping and building charges...)

of course, we all have different needs, hence the various options - a monitor is seperate.

Or if you have a good small PC shop in your area, get one built to your own spec. I did last year and got:

AMD Athlon 2000+
256MB RAM
30gb hdd
Jetway motherboard with on-board sound and graphics
CD-RW
DVD
NIC
Modem (didn`t have broadband then)
Windows Me (complete train crash of an OS, I have windows XP now)
Wheel Mouse
Keyboard

All in a really nice-looking bluey/silver case for £351 including labour, vat and delivery.
