Stabal music - on-line concerts...

Anyone else heard of or tried this site?

https://stabal.com/

You can buy a ticket for the live event for around £16.50 or get access to it (and any extras the artist might record) with a 30 day pass for around £22.50.  Not sure if the prices change with the artist.

Just watched this:

And got this one to watch next month:

It looks a nice way to support an artist you love in these hard times. I wonder how well these sorts of things will survive when things get closer to normal again, because my instinct is heavily "for that price I want a physical thing I can watch forever!"

I would guess that depends on if you are to make it to the small number of shows available on any given tour.

I'd rather catch more bands live with decent sound and picture from home than miss some of the artists I'd love to support live.

Of course, the good thing is that they can easily cobble something together for home viewing release 6 months to a year later...

I did a similar thing with a site called Veep to see a Poppy online gig. Was very well presented.

The Mr Bungle one I streamed worked well, was really good, so good, they are releasing it on blu ray etc, even a ltd edition VHS!

I guess they could carry on doing them, not everyone wants to/can afford to/is able to go to the live gig, I can't see this stopping ppl from going to gigs

Agree and the key thing is that people like watching live music, especially the bigger bands, but the chances of the tour coming to a venue near you and you also being able to grab a ticket are quite slim.  I recently missed out on The Killers and the only chance was a trip to London again and all the costly travel and accommodation that entails.

You can even go down this route for theatre and musicals.

yeh, my local Picture House cinema has shown live streams of some plays, opera, ballet etc for years for shows just on in London.

If my fave artist is playing London I make the effort to go, anyone else these days they have to playing here, or maybe within a 30min drive if I can be arsed, but I may be tempted to pay to watch a live stream of one of my other fave artists if it's not too expensive. Now we're allowed to people's houses again, you could even make a night of it round a mate's house :)

I don't think £16.50 for a one-off on the night or £22 for 3 day unlimited access is too expensive...

depends how much a "real" ticket would be, I think for the gigs you're interested in that's reasonable :)

I guess for small venues it's a difficult balancing act, they need to make sure they have good equipment, but then what to charge is tricky. if it's an act that is £5-£10 you can't really charge more than that, but on the plus side, if your capacity is 200, you can sell more than 200 tickets if its sold out, so everyone is happy.

The Mr Bungle stream was about £15 to watch live, and be able to  for 3 days. I live ticket hmmn, dunno, Faith No More is about £50 so similar to that I guess (Brixton Academy size venue rather than stadium)
