Saturday I got a ticket from a friend for Nick Masons Saucerful Of Secrets gig at York. The really early Floyd from the Syd Barrett era is not really my thing but saying that I really enjoyed it. Plus they played Echoes and One Of These Days which were pretty epic. Great live band including Gary Kemp of Spandau on guitar who did his best Barrett and Gilmour impressions. Impressive.
The next night is was Carl Palmer, only surviving member of ELP. Again not a band I really like anymore but it was out local town hall and I was intrigued as there no keyboards!
All the original parts are played between the guitarist and bass/chapman stick players. To cut a long story short I rally enjoyed it. The two young guys were amazing. Guitarist really connected with the crowd and having a laugh with them. Carl himself seemed very amiable and quite humble. He came stage front to introduce each track, maybe explain a bit about them and had plenty of amusing banter with the crowd. Two great nights out.

The Saucerful show is indeed brilliant as is Gary Kemp in it.
So many standout tracks, particularly like Remember a Day and the two mentioned above are obviously very special.
It's often on Sky Arts too and well worth recording...

Bob Vylan at The Joiners \m/  \m/

I've never really been into dancehall, but the support act Grove were really good: https://linktr.ee/groveuk

kind of female singer hip hop techno rave dancehall, really good support act.

Bob Vylan were awesome, tiny venue and unsurprisingly sold out, imagine Rage Against the Machine playing in the back room of your local pub, v hot and sweaty :) The singer and drummer are live, guitars etc are recorded, but really really good, seems v happy they got a top 20 album, first time a  100% indie artist, who have done all the work themselves have done that! it's a good cd, well worth a listen if you like bodycount, rage against the machine, senser, public enemy, i.e. if you remember those bands from your youth and miss them ;)

Von Hertzen Brothers at The Parish in Huddersfield. Excellent venue for gigs.
Great band from Finland. Quite a varied repertoire from Folk to Rock with bits of electronica and Prog sometimes.

Saw Gangstagrass for 3rd time last night.

Rodney Branigan was support, who supported them 1st tour over here, he's an American singer guitarist, but has lived in UK for years. When I saw him before his "thing" was that he plays 2 guitars at once, he didn't do that much, instead wowed us by using a voice looper thing live, so he could beatbox, sing harmonies and lead all at same time.

Very good to see it done, and was live, as he had to start one song again as he forgot to press record :) he's v charasmatic and funny, works the crowd well.

Well worth seeing even if (lazy comparison) KT Tunstell, Ed Sheeran et Al isn't your thing.

Gangstagrass were great as always, old and new songs, audience participation, bit of humour, again, they know how to entertain :)

the "duelling" banjo and fiddler always good :)

Currently at the Isle of Wight Festival...

The Compozers... group of North Londoners doing covers, strong drummer

Heather Small... I mean how many other artists can bang out a set of strong sing along tracks everybody knows every single song from? Movin on up!

Happy Mondays... Kinky Afro, Loose Fit and Step On all good and all, but when Bez is the stand-out highlight, something is missing
