HELP WITH SCARTS

tiklyrixx (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 5th June 2002, 18:44

Just need some help, ive already tried doing a search, but for some reason it keeps saying that an error has occured, anyway here i go:

Ive recently tried using my playstation 2 on my 14inch TV (bedroom) as i dont have a scart on the tv, ive put the scart lead into the video and then connected it to the tv with my aerial wire. This works fine for PS2 game, but i cant get the DVD`s working.

Ive tried many DVD and find they all come on and then the screen goes black, before gettin a few seconds of image again?

Is there anyway i can correct this? any help will be appreciated.

Cheers

Assuming you`ve used the A/V switch on the video, it could be our old friend `Macro`. Have you tried it with an older non Macro disc. Have you looked in the DVD settings to see if there are alternative ways to switch the output.

This should really be in the hardware forum but anyway...

The reason the films won`t play is because theyre copy protected with Macrovision. When you run the films through the VCR, they think you re trying to copy them!

Some players have hacks, the PS2 doesn`t. There are video enchancers and other devices which you can run the PS2 through to disable macrovision but short of getting a new TV and these devices theres nothing else you can do.

Yep, its strange, the only DVD which seems to work is the Grinch cartoon, which is a new dvd.

Everything else doesnt, yet all works fine on the big TV/

thanks anyway lads, i might buy i PS2 cable which goes straight into aerial socket, see if that works.
