Page 1 of Dansai 852- Tesco’s replace it with another model

About 2 weeks ago I wanted to buy a Dansai 852. When I went to get one, they had all gone. Went to Tesco's today & they had a new model- Called a 952.
This one is slimmer than the 852, but on the box, there's no mention of VCD's.
Also I have no idea if this one can be hacked for all regions, or if you can disable Macrovision.
It is a better looking player, but if can't be hacked I don't want it. Anyone know anything about this machine? Thanks

I was looking for an 852 for a few weeks too. Rang Tesco today to be told that they have a better model in - the 952. Unfortunately from what I have picked up elsewhere, the old 852 hack does NOT work to enable multi-region on this model, so it looks like we could have a wait on our hands :o(

I looked in the Lincoln branch today and no Dansai`s at all?? Only some crap with 10 DVD`s??

If you had a digital camera you could have e-mailed ME a picture!

Saw dansai 952,but they were still boxed.The picture of the remote looked like the one for 852.
The box states that is has a built in decoder for dolby digital.
The price is same as 852 ( £99.49).

This hack works on the 952. Use remote for this 1.Open drawer 2.Press Setup 3. Stop 4.Press Back Skip 5.Press Forward Skip.

does anyone have any problems with the picture pixellating on the 952 every now and again when playing dvd`s of any region??

you can change region ID, dither and automute, No sign of macrovision. I think that its already turned off, never tried it. Taking it back for a replacement, picture goes funny. But i`m staff so they take it back no probs. Definitely going to get another!
