Scart leads

DP (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 1st May 2002, 21:26

Can any one recommend some leads to improve my picture ?. I am experiencing ghosting and loss of picture with very bright scenes. I am thinking that a good set of scart leads may solve this.

thanks

Btech 1.5m SCART lead in electric blue at http://www.beyondhifi.net - about £13 all in, should be with you in 3 days :-)

I second that - I have the ribbon version, and it`s lovely.

I`ll agree with richard he advised me to go for the btech ribbon scart and it`s a doozy!
Also their service is outstanding, I ordered my cable on friday morning and it popped through my letterbox on saturday morning!

Whilst on the subject of scart leads; how much difference to picture (not sound) do quality leads make? I had to buy a cheap Scart lead because the picture from my DVD had gone green and I wanted to eliminate the leads before I toom my DVD player back to the shop and had a rant. Lo and behold it was my Scart that was dodgy.

I`ve not really had chance to sit and examine picture quality (sound is through my amp). I am getting my new widescreen telly on Saturday (Matsui 28WN05) and would like to know if I really should upgrade my Scart.

Thanks in advance.

Nick

The flimsy in-box leads that get given away free, or cost about £3.50 from Argos are a waste of space, generally.

It is well worth investing the extra in a fully-wired, shielded SCART lead, like the ones suggested above : for a £10-15 outlay it really is money well-spent, especially on budget-end DVD/TV combos (eg my Encore DV450 and Sanyo TV were completely transformed by the BTech lead).

Go for it !

Thanks for your advice.

beyondhifi looks like a good site and the prices are unreal.

I bit the bullet and ordered a BTech Ribbon Scart cable.

Now I just gotta decide which DVD to test `em on.........x-men, Phantom Menace, Die Hard, Bad Boys.....!!!??!! :-)

Let`s hope so, I`ll let you know once I`ve tested it.......That`s if I can drag myself away from the TV. :-)

Ordered a set of Btech scarts from Beyondhifi. Arrived within two days. Sadly they didn`t cure my picture problem. Must be my player is Sh.te
(a Cyberhome). Just means a trip back to Richer sounds.

thanks for the advice
